KVF 400 2000, "clunk" when going downhill
#1
Hi,
Yesterday, after a pretty rough ride in the woods, I noticed a fairly big "clunk" sound comming from the bottom of my quad when going downhill (using the engine compression as brakes). It only does it once while starting to go down, but will reappear on the next slope. Nothing appears to be loose under. I am concern that it could be something in the transmission.
Someone has an idea or could indicate where I should look?
Thanks!
Martin

No, but watching this thread to learn cause I've got a 2000 400 4x4.
Maybe the clutches if they have a lot of miles and never been touched, or belt? I put a new primary clutch on around 3,000 along with belt. The dealer told me the OEM primarys were made from inferior material. I went with a Comet.
Other possible areas - drive shaft/s, differentials.
