2000 Mojave Headlight problem
#1
So I am really new here, but hoping to find some help with this..
Ok so I have had my Mojave for about 2 weeks now.. I have checked everything out, and its all working properly except the headlight and taillight.. Tail light is a bad socket in the housing, basically the bulb has rusted into the socket.. The Headlight, has power to it, all the way to the bulb socket.. And a brand new bulb, but the headlight cuts off while riding, and then periodically comes back on.. My questions are, How do I fix the headlight? And, Where can I find a cheap replacement taillight? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, and Thanks in advance..

for the taillight go to ebay.. thats where i have been ordering all my parts with good luck.. as far as the flashing headlights. you have a loose connection someware. first i would trace all the light wires and every ware you have a connector pull it apart clean it and put them back together. you could have some corrosion in the switch. go for a test drive and see if it helped.. if not start going through the harness and wiggling the connections or tapping them with a screwdriver including your light housings and light switch. this should help you find the trouble area

Ok I just went out, and cleaned the connectors at the headlight harness, and where the harness goes to the switch itself.. I'll check tomorrow to see if that helps, the wires to the switch were pretty dirty.. Hopefully that's it, if not, then I guess I'm gonna start taking some more stuff apart.. Thanks for the help

ok, took it for a test ride, still doing the same thing.. I got back, took the controls apart, and cleaned them thoroughly, took EVERYTHING apart, scrubbed, and used electronics cleaner on everything.. Seems to be working while running in the garage, no twitching on and off, or anything, went through off/low/high cycle several times.. Only a trail ride will tell though.. I'm gonna take it out tomorrow, and see if it works any better.

Ok, so I have cleaned the- connector at the headlight, connector at switch, and switch, still goes in and out of working.. Wired in a turn signal bulb, to see if I still have power when the headlight turns off, headlight turned off, turn signal bulb got really bright, then I think blew the bulb. SO my question is, I'm guessing my connector for my headlight is no good, Can I buy any aftermarket lights to do more of a dual round light bar?? Would I need to do anything special?? Also do you guys think that it is the plug??

you can do anything you want with the lights all depends on how capable you are. As long as they are a 12v light you are good to go.. You can pick up led lights for the front off ebay cheep. As long as the light you are looking at for the rear is 12v you are good... i will be switching mine to led shortly i hate the low powered yellow stock lights... with winter coming up going to need some good light

I found some 4" round led flood lights KC style, that I am wanting to put on the front.. Also found a 6" led bar that is wired to be a brake/tail light for the rear.. I'm hoping swapping the headlight gets rid of the problem..
