Installed rebuilt clutch but still did not fix the issue. When I have the clutch cover off and rev it up in neutral- it seems like the belt is not reaching the outside on the drive clutch. I figured a rebuilt clutch would fix this- I tried a new belt and switched in a different secondary clutch too but same result. Any Ideas??? I'm beyond stumped.

is your belt deflection within spec? you may need to add or remove shim

Belt deflection is correct. Could it be my secondary is not opening all the way? Should I remove or add shims to get it to open further?

Yeah I've seen that thread and think I've searched all the threads on this site and Kawi riders but still have not found the probem.

Only reason I pointed that one out is he said it took him a few tries to get the carb clean in a ultrasonic machine. maby the carb just does not have enough juice to get it up to speed in high gear. High and low have different fuel requirements. Belt deflection is good, clutches are good so really their cannot be much left

Went through the carb again. Took it all apart and cleaned all passages with choke cleaner. No difference. Thought maybe it was running lean because the spark plug looked a little white so made a little washer to put under the needle... no differnce. I took it out on the road and Im pretty sure it actually runs faster in low gear then it does high. Any other suggestions I can try I may have over looked?

Sounds like a old truck of mine. Would run great or great in all gears if I was in low range. As soon as I put it in high range and tried anything but first gear it had no power. Rebuild the carb several times with no luck ended up replacing carb

Got a carb u can borrow for a test?
Only 3 things it can be
Carb
Clutching / belt
Trans
And I'm running out of ideas

I'll keep tinkering- If nothing else atleast it's a good learning experience. Although very frustrating at the same time. But I do appreciate the help. If ANYONE has any other ideas or solutions let me know. In the mean time I'm going to see if I can hunt down a carb to borrow to see if I can narrow it down.
