Bayou 220 front shocks
#1
My 220 has been running great, and I ride it quite a bit. It makes this 52 y/o act 25 again! But I'm a pretty big fella who probably should be riding a much larger atv. I just can't afford a bigger one. But I noticed when my son rides my 220, the front wheels spread out pretty bad. I can only imagine what they look like with me on there. There are lots of replacements and aftermarket beefier springs and such available, but the bike isn't worth putting that much money into. I'd have a $200 atv with $500 invested. I was thinking of building spacers to put under the springs, or find an old shock spring and cut a portion of it to stack under my existing spring. Anyone have thoughts on this or a better answer, something that has worked for you?
Thanks,

If you don't want to spend to much money just go to your local automotive shop and get some of those rubber spacers. But just remember a rough, bouncy, ride to to poor shocks will wear on a body and take a lot of the fun out of it for you. It took me about 4 months of searching to find a good price on a rear shock for my prairie. Ended up getting it $30 cheaper than anyware i could find and free shipping and that's another $60 savings in my area..

putting a spacer under the spring prob wont hurt. it'll just give you a lift and wont make it any harder riding than it is now. someone over at kawieriders.com lifted his and put 25" tires, think he has a thread showing how he did it.... here it is, looks like he made some shackles...
