new atv

I agree moose. Sure a smaller, less powerful atv can maneuver trees and brush better but any trail obstacle, steep hill, deepmud or straight away will favor the more powerful machine. Now, rider ability is the most important part but a great rider will find limitations a lot sooner on the smaller machine.

I'm averaging 11.6 mph so far - up from the 8.7 on my Rubicon.
the big difference is the speed I travel on the graded gravel county roads and I really don't need low range as often.
I marvel at the low end torque this thing has. From just off idle crawling up steep grades it's just a matter of a little throttle and it jumps - most impressive.
Power is HUGE in the snow too. Nothing beats high range and HP in deep snow along with a great set of winter tires.
You don't have to use the power but it's sure nice to have there if you need it or just plain want it.
Coming home from a ride today on a nice graded gravel road - 40 mph - stab the throttle and the rear wheels light up and the machine starts drifting sideways. That my friends is just plain fun.

I still chuckle about where that happened just a couple miles from your home. And that was after being deep in Fish Creek Canyon. Not sure what we could have done if it had happened down there. God is good.

If it was down in Fish Creek Canyon I kind of pictured someone pulling out a pistol and putting it out of its misery.

I'm looking forward to replacing my Sedona Mud Rebel tires. So far I have not
been overly impressed with them. Nothing wrong with them but I just don't
feel them "grab" like I was hoping for. That and they are a bias ply tire and
I much prefer radials for trail riding.

I am either going to get a set of Sedona Mud Rebel RTs that have a much more
aggressive tread pattern with deeper lugs and they are radials. I've seen them in
person and look like they will be a great trail tire.

My first choice was STI's Black Diamond XTRs.
I think I'm actually leaning towards the Mud Rebel RTs. I've never had a set of them before
and they do look like an excellent trail tire.
Just have to wait and see - should know in a few days.
