Mojave engine work

I am thinking of getting of getting some eninge work(Valves, cams,Piston) and I am wondering what company does the best job In your opinion.I am considering Four stroke tech but I hear I will probaly have to wait a while until I get my engine back. and what do you guys think about stroker cranks for the Mojave?

You did not mention whether you plan on a big overbore or not. If you just want a .020 over racing piston, cam, valve work and so on, I would not go to FST. you can probably get that done locally at a good shop and save big bucks and get quality work. You could even do it yourself if you had a machine shop bore your cyl and do the valve job on the head.
If you want big like the 9mm overbore from fst or a stroker then you will need to call Mickey at FST. Be prepared to wait a long time from what I hear. The other option is Powroll, they do Mojave big bore and strokers but not as big as FST. I think a 77mm bore and 6mm stroker is as big as Powroll goes. They have a great reputation. I hear some bad things about FST on here but Mickey has always done me right. I have only bought parts from him and had him remove rev limiters though.

Both powroll and fst have cams, stainless steel valves, valve springs, and piston kits. As for the valves, I have stopped using the ss ones and use the Vesrah stock replacement valves.(less than half the price and work just as good) Cams can be purchased at white bros. and web cam in addition to powroll and fst. I have used web because they have the best price. You have to send your cam to them to have it hard welded and reground to the profile you choose. I also have used fst and web valve spring kits and like the web ones much
better. My suggestion is; buy a wiesco piston .020 over(if you are not going big bore) and some vesrah replacement valves from you favorite shop or mail order house (midwest action cycles has both at great prices, see their ad in the mags), send your cam to web cam and buy their valve springs if you go with the big cam that requires them(you can use the stock springs if you run the all around cam), Send your cdi box to fst to have the rev limiter removed(80 bucks) and buy a set of fst clutch springs. Have a good motorcycle repair/machine shop bore your cylinder and do a 3 angle valve job on the head and install the new valves and springs if you get them. whether you take it apart or have the shop do it is up to you and your ability.

OK i am looking for bottom-mid-range cams web-cam doesn't have them white bros. doesn't have a catalog to look at. Would bigger valves from powroll fit the stock diameter's on the head. Head work and bore .50 over if possible. How much of a diffrence is .20 over in over-all power. thanks

Mxracer98, The web cam # 60 -271 is an all around cam. This is a good bottom and especially midrange cam. Any high performance cam is going to move the power band up the rpm range. If you want the most on the bottom, than stick with your stock cam. Yes the heads have to be cut at the valve seats to match the oversized valves. I also noticed that Powroll has gone up to $55 on their ss valves. FST was selling them for $33 when I bought some a year and a half ago. The overbore of .020 is not noticable on performance. It is done to clean up the bore and get a good fit(clearance)for the new piston. The higher compression piston will help performance however, but not as much on the mojave as some other motors because the mojave has a high stock compression. The second oversize piston will not make any real difference either and leaves the cyl wall thinner, so the .020 over is the best choice.
If you want more on the bottom, I suggest going with the stroker crank from powroll and using the stock cam. spend the money you would have spent on the cams toward the crank. It will add torque that you will feel on the bottom and mid. The good thing about their stroker is that you can use a stock or any piston that fits a standard stroke mojave. At only 6 mm additional stroke don't expect miracles, but torgue will be increased.

i think my rings are going on my quad, so i think i am going to put a high compression piston in. What else has to be done to my engine for it to run right with the piston. what is the biggest piston i can put in without boring it.
