Default Manual?

Hello everyone. I am currently working on a 95 Kawasaki Lakota for a buddy of mine. He bought it in really rough shape and I did a bunch of work on it for him to get it back running. After i changed the plug, rebuilt the carb, changed the oil and put fresh gas in it, it ran really well for about 3 short rides. At the end of the 3rd ride, it started to backfire and bog like it was running extremely rich. When we got back to my buddy's house, it wouldn't run at all. I let it cool down and when I tried to restart it, the battery was dead. Now, it will run on a battery charger/jumper cables but, as soon as you take them off, it starts to run super rich and then dies. I am assuming the stator is junk and not supplying power to the battery. I am more than capable of checking the power in the charging system but, I don't have a manual with the specs. Does anyone on here have that info or a manual they would be willing to share with me? Thanks in advance.

If no one has a free one they can share or a really cheap one, here's one for 8 bucks.https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....pair-1995-2004 Sounds like what a faulty regulator would do. If the battery is able to take a charge and load test,if you get it running see if 14 volts or so is going back to the battery. If not, then could be the regulator. Usually you can check the yellow stator leads running to the regulator. They should have some small resistance between each other and no yellow should short to ground.

Thanks for the reply! When you say "regulator" do you mean the rectifier or something completely different?

Most newer machines have regulator/rectifiers as a unit. I remember the days when old machines had a separate rectifier to change ac current to dc and a regulator to control voltage. Now that's old stuff.. New Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Kawasaki KLF300 Bayou 89 98 KEF300 LAKOTA 95 | eBay

Okay, that's what I thought but, I wasn't sure. I didn't think it would be old enough to have them as seperate units. Thanks for all the help!
