Default 220 Bayou irratic idle issue

New to this forum, but need some advice as to getting the idle set on my Bayou 220. ATV is strong once it gets going, but will not idle. Just spits and spudders at low speeds. I've put a kit in it and it runs better. Disassembled the carb and all parts soaked overnite in carb cleaner and blew out all passages. Air Mix screw out 1 to 1& 1/2 turns. Float appears to be adjusted properly. Checked timing and it appears OK. Valves lash for Intake and Exhaust are .008 & .009 respectively. Still cannot get the motor to idle smoothly which is not good when trying to use the machine with constantly having to feather the throttle. Thinking about new carb. Anyone tried any aftermarket carbs for this little machine ? See them online at a reasonable price, and thinking what's there to lose ???

Before I got another carb I'd do a compression test and/or a leak down test just to rule that out. Not sure what it's supposed to be and if it has some sort of compression release device or not,but could possibly be the cause of the idle problem.

the motor does have a compression release device and it seems to be working, but I have not performed a compression test or leak down test. Thanks for the advice.
