Default Rear end hose vent

Hi new to the site as a member but read them alot but my question is . I have been riding my bayou 220 for a couple weeks now and today I rode it around for a minute not long at all it was idling in place and when I went to get on it I seen a lot of oil comeing frome were my switch is that turns gas on and off. so I turned the atv off and started taking it apart. It was a hose and the hose goes around the gas tank and to the rear end tubeing. I think it is a vent hose for rear end. can anybody tell me why there was fluid comeing out it and what it is there for? Thanks
