Help please.Kawasaki bayou klf 220 runs for 30 seconds then stops?
Hi everyone.
Im having an issue with my kawasaki bayou klf 220a
The engine starts fine and runs for approximately 30 seconds, then stops but after it has stopped the engine can't be turned over again as it is locked/seized. The only way to unfree the engine is to turn it over with a socket or spanner then it will start again for approximately 30 seconds and stop again and so on and so on.

It sounds like something is binding. The thing I would check is your timing chain tensioner but even before that your actual timing.
Remove top cam cover
Remove timing cover on stator cover (so you can see the flywheel markings)
Ensure flywheel is at TDC
Ensure cam sprocket is at TDC
If both are then remove the chain tensioner and "reset" it. You can find the steps online how to reset it. Reinstall chain tensioner, cam cover and timing hole cover and see what happens.
If that doesn't fix the problem then you might have a broken chain tensioner guide and if that is the case your head needs to come off

When the engine stops is it a sudden instant stop or it just quits running? if you pull the spark plug will it turn over? Have you tried the compression relief valve? Dont know if any of this will help just thinking of things i would try...
P.S. Would recommend using the pull cord instead of the starter. Less likely to jam thing up.

On air cooled engines the most likely thing to seize is the piston and small end. If it is locking up, time to take the top end down and check them. If the small end/piston has seized, compression will be down and it is likely to blow blue smoke when it does fire up if it has any oil in it. Lack of oil is the usual cause of seizure.
