Bayou 300 2x4

99% of quads have a "fixed" rear axle, including the 4WD Bayou. This is because, if you have a rear diff, and one wheel starts to spin, the other one looses drive as well. However not having a diff does put strain on the rear axle, hubs tend to work loose and they are a lot less easy to shove round a corner on concrete or asphalt. Why Kawasaki decided to defy convention with the 300b, I don't know, but the rule is is diff locked for off road, and unlocked for on road uses. The lever has lock/unlock written on it. However we found most farmers never unlocked the diff, resulting in the mechanism seizing where it goes into the diff. Engine oil is any 10W-40 suitable for "wet clutches" (motorcycles).
