So I have an 04 Mojave 250 stock and starting in 2nd gear and up the power band drops at mid to high rpms and the rpms increase. Feels like the clutch is going bad...engine speeds up but is getting about half that power to the wheels. Do I need to replace the clutch plates, drive plates & the springs? https://www.ebay.com/itm/KAWASAKI-19...wAAOSw4C5cnOGx
Only one way to find out, take the clutch apart. Measure spring lengths and plates for thickness and warpage, check basket for burs, etc. All measurements will be in the workshop manual. If things are not worn out, it can be plate glazing, rough the surfaces with coarse emery and make sure it is properly adjusted when you put it back. Some people simply fit a kit containing all plates and new springs, but new steel plates are rarely needed, and springs are usually within tolerances. You may also need a clutch cover gasket.
