Fit a new plug and check if the old one is black and sooty. Try the bike keeping the old plug on you, if the engine stalls again, whip the plug lead off, put the spare plug on it and check if there is a spark before the bike has had a chance to cool. If the spark has gone, it can be several things, first to check is the voltage regulator. Voltmeter across battery, start engine and rev up, voltage shouldn't go above 14.5v, if above 15v at an absolute max, it will be cooking the "ignitor" ignition, this is old car style on the 300, so runs off battery voltage, as does the coil. If the voltage reg is OK, try another coil and if that doesn't cure it, the trigger coil on the alternator will probably be the cause, you can test them but those that only fail when hot are difficult, as resistance and voltage output may be fine until they get hot. If it still sparks when the engine stalls, check the fuel filler cap, if the tank breather in it blocks, it vacuum locks, stopping fuel from running into the carb. A slight sucking sound from the cap when opened, and an engine that then instantly re-starts, indicates a blocked cap.
