Little help pls. The vin on my KLF300 is JKALF300CCB610725. Can someone confirm that this is a 2005 vehicle, and perhaps point me to a link for the most appropriate service manual for this model. Thanks.
There is something wrong with that VIN number. The tenth digit is the year code, and C is for 1982 or 2012 and those dates are before and after the KLF300 was in production. The 2005 code was 5.
hi merryman :-) thank you ! so I'm not going mad, I'm confused re manufacturing years and the evidence of the vin on the machine. the seller said 2005. perhaps he bashed it enough to have to replace part of the frame. no matter really as I'm happy with the atv; but it makes it a bit difficult re ensuring I get the correct manual tho I guess there may not be a huge amount of difference between models. the vin is clear enough.
hi there. has a gear lever, 5 gears + rev. I think I'm going to have to take a leap of faith in regards to buying a manual; perhaps the one which has the widest spread of model years, that's the haynes manual I think.
I'm not an expert on them but have mended quite a lot and, from experience, only the model A, very early KLF300s, were "different". Models B & C didn't change all that much to the end of production. The later KLF300s had a different tank sticker, so some idea of age can be got from that. Most manuals can be used to cover the same model, I'm still using a 2000 manual for Honda Recons, newer ones have a different cylinder head and exhaust gas recirculation, plus the electric shift hadn't come out in 2000, but the wiring diagram and engine strip down details like torque settings, are near enough.
made me smile that you'd put the word "different" in quotes. whether we're talking ATVs, religion, or political persuasion, we have to try not to tread on other people's toes. oooh, see those model A efl300s ! they never try to fit in with the other ATVs. :-)
Well that is interesting. I run it and it comes up as 2012 motorcycle.
You realized it looks like that frame has been modified right there right? Someone welded that VIN over the factory VIN. Replacement frames that I have installed have come with no VIN. You are supposed to transfer from the old machine and stamp your own.
My county auditor gave me this website. I check them all here before I try to register. It helps figure out the ones when you can't read a digit in the VIN. If it won't read here then more than likely you got something wrong. Or someone did in your case.
From another forum. But I am pretty sure that VIn has nothing to do with that machine. If I was looking to purchase it I would assume it is stolen.
