I am planning on purchasing a KX 500 for all around dune use. Anybody got some advice on this monster? The 500 has plenty of power for me, Im not looking for a 1100cc road bike in a dirt bike frame here, just the 500.
Thanks.

Yes, I have a KX 500cc. Its a really good bike, and I love riding it in dunes. Once I ran it out of gas, hha. Man that sucked but I lived. Anyways just take this thing and ride her guts out. She will be there for you always.

I sold my '98 in 2000 and switched to quads. I used mine for motocross and loved it. Stock, you have more power than any modified 250 ever dreamed of. Throw a paddle on it and sit on the tank, baby! When it is cold, you have to kick it like you mean it, though.

I had a 97 KX5 back in 97. That thing was sick-fast! The only thing I didn't like was the vibration - a set of Pro-Tapers really seemed to help that. My stock pipe vibrated itself to peices but I stuck an FMF on there and had no more problems.

I have a friend who still talks about the day I hit him with roost so bad that he had to quit riding for the day.
