hey guys, im 30, first time atv buyer, and am looking for advice before i go and make my first purchase. my family has just bought a 300 acre farm with a ton of hardwoods. im looking for a fun " trail making and riding bike" and i have narrowed it down to the lakota sport and the warrior. 100% of the time i will be making or riding new trails through brush, mud, water, and hills. ive never used a fully manuel clutch-but im am not against using one. im looking for an atv that i will not get bored with in a year or so. i will also be using this atv in the snow to pull the kids sled, can these machines carry the load. any honest imput you could give me would be appreciated.

dude, you should definately go with the lakota sport because it has the automatic clutch. You will really get fed up with the warrior because you will keep having to grab the clutch and when cutting and riding new trail you will constantly be stoping. but other than those machines you should go with a 4x4.

I have a Mojave and I am defintely a fan of Kawi, but if you don't want to be bored w/a machine in a year, get the Warrior. I am in no way knocking the Lakota, but as far as speed and power the Warrior is where it's at. If you want more utility, then go for the Lakota.

If your looking for a good beginners sport bike, with a clutch. I would go with the Honda 300 ex. The 300ex is very easy to ride.

I personally think you should geta lakota sport.
1. you do not have to fool with the clutch
2. I have a lakota sport and my brother a warrior mine goes way better in the snow and can pull alot more weight you know your kids and sled
3. the lakota although not as fast as warrior if your going to ride in the woods it is alot funnier than a warrior
4. it is 900 dollars cheaper you can buy a lot of goodies with that

i would go with the lakota. its not as fast as a warrior but its still a lot of fun. the reverse on the kawi is much easier than the yamaha. it will also be easier to throw around. the auto clutch is much nicer in the tight hardwoods. ive had both machines and rode the hardwood forests in n.y. . you might consider a utility machine like the bayou 300 . of all the machines ive owned that is my 1st choice for the woods. but were i rode you couldent go too fast because of the terrain so speed was not a factor. ground clearance is very important.
you will enjoy whatever you get, their all good machines.this is only my opinion.

I don't think you will be satified with either one of this machines after a year if you are only going to make one ATV purchase. They won't be good machines for pulling kids around with Heavy snow on the ground. My nephew has a 2000 warrior and has been satisfied, but it doesn't do work very well at all. It just wasn't designed for it. Chet
