Why did you get rid of the cobra exhaust? Did it not give it more power? I Am thinking of getting one, and your input would help. Does your bike skip at full throttle (with the current jets)? It sounds like it is running rich, back down a size or two on the main jet.

The Cobra pipe helped out a lot on the top end, but it was a hassle. It worked great once it was re-packed, but after one good ride almost all of the packing was gone. I had the 4-stroke system, it was really loud and I felt like I lost a lot of the bottom-mid range torque so I bought the silent core from the "mega phone" series pipe and thought it worked better over all than the 4-stroke core, but like I said the packing constantly needed replaced so I said the heck with it. I think I'm going to get the FMF mega-max II pipe from Dennis Kirk. It is around $190 and it's the tuneable disk type, the only problem is every time I check their web site it is listed as out of stock expected soon. Back to my Mojave, it runs great, no skip nothing just the ocasional smoke when I start it. I do all the maintenance religously it just has me a little confused. It didn't start doing it until recently and I switched pipes a few months ago. There is an adjustment on the needle in the carb for stock pipe and I didn't change it back when I switched it back from the Cobra but I think I'll try that or hope Dennis Kirk gets the pipe soon.

You're probably rich if you were jetted correctly for the Cobra pipe. What needle adjustment? If you have the same carb I do, (which I am pretty sure of) then there is no adjustment you can make to the stock needle. I have the Supertrapp IDS2 system and I am really happy with it-you may want to give that a look. Also if you have the stock filter set up-the gas has a long way to travel before hitting the filter(and collecting oil) and getting back to the carb-can't see this happening. I hope this helps-let us know what you find-any tuning info is always appreciated.

The needle adjustment I was talking about is on the K&N/Dyno Jet, jet kit that I put on mine.

I have had a similar thing happen on a 2-stroke I used to own. It was a sticky float. Try this
1. always turn the full off when net in use.
2. try to start the motor with the fuel off.
3. if it doesn't start only turn the fuel on for a couple of seconds.
4. after it starts turn the fuel on.
The motor vibration should free the float. You may also want to go to wally world and get a can of B-12. That stuff keeps my boat carb clean.

Mojaves come stock with a 132 main jet-your probably lean now with the 130-better to be a little rich than lean.

mordr, The dyno jet numbers are not the same as the stock jet numbers. A DJ130 and a regular 130 are not the same size.

2000, do you have the choke on the richest setting when you start it cold. Have you tried other choke settings. The mo has more choke as you move the lever further to the left. Try only pushing the choke half way or less to the left if you haven't done this. Also it is normal to have some black smoke after a cold start for a few seconds because the fuel is not atomizing properly until it runs and warms up a little.
