650 at TOP SPEED
#1
I haven't, but my neighbor took mine out today and said it got to 60 fast and stopped. Yes, the throttle is correctly adjusted. I was expecting closer to 65. I have stock tires, air 7# in front, 5# in back, so I know it wasn't limited by rolling resistance. The belt is tight, and the alignment is correct to spec. I know some speedos can be wrong. I'll have to check it against gps. I really don't have a good place around here to check top speed, so I probably won't check it anytime soon. Anyone have theirs at top speed, if so how fast was it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I just did some top speed runs. I hooked up the gps and found a cement straight. I only had .4 miles though. I got up to 60 real fast then it climbed slowly and steadily from there to 65mph on the speedo. The gps max speed read 64 mph. I thnk if I would have had more room it would have topped out at 67mph on speedo and 66mph on gps based on the fact that the speed was still rising when I had to stop. I'm very pleased with this.
I rechecked the belt tension before the run and it is ~.8", so I should be milking all the power the engine has to offer given the stock pulley set up. The tires were also properly inflated and everything else is adjusted corrrectly. I should have done a few runs with the air lid off, just for the heck of it.

It realy depends on the surface. I got up to 65 on pavement on a couple of mile strip. But when I raced a 500 scrabler H.O. on a strait dirt road 5 miles long I only got up to 63.
By the way i beat him off the line by half of a fourwheeler he then caught up to me and we ran neck and neck dead even until we ran out of road. We both weight almost the same also.

Whats up with the GPS speeds of 65+??? I remember when the Grizzly first came out, somebody said they GPS'd a 650 and a 660 and they were like 66 and 68 respectively. Horse Crap! I've run the GPS test honestly on my 660 and all it had on flat pavement was 60. That is 60mph dead flat even! Speedometer read 65, but what the hell does it know. This is a 660 Grizzly purchased on July 9th that had like 120 miles on it at the time. Its not any faster after 350 miles than it was then. There are no problems with it whatsoever. It does 60. I can't vouch for a Prairie, but I'm going to be hard pressed to believe somebody saying a 660 will go 68mph in the real world. I've seen my speedometer hit 69 before downhill, but I didn't really worry too much about it.
