Hey Guys,
Put the 13T sprocket with a K & N filter on the other day.
The 13T sprocket is the corect sprocket for the lakota. I don't feel anything from the air filter but changing the sprocket at tha same time may have hurt any notice of the filter.
The 13T sprocket changes a hole bunch of stuff, expecialy how you ride the bike in general. I noticed at first the bottom end sufferd a bit, the mid range may have sufferd abit also, but the top end got it all.
I noticed atleast five mph increase with the gears feeling much more useful.
The gears are much taller you can ride them out more completely, you don't have to short shift like you feel you need to. The forth and fith gears are thier now and have to be ridden out.
I still have the power to power shift into second and still pull a pretty nice wheely, but just not as easaly.
The down fall of the 13T sprocket is you come to the reality that this is the rite sprocket it just shows how under powererd the lakota is.
I believe when the jet kit with the pipe will truly wake this thing up.
My pipe and jet-kit will be in within two weeks and I'll bet this thing is gonna be awsome.

Gaff,
Glad to hear the 13t sprocket is working well. Did you have any trouble removing the original sproket? (do you need a wheel puller or any special tools?) I am waiting on Rocky Mountain to get all the parts in before I order them. I sent an email to them regarding the et on parts arrival and they told me around the 20th of Oct.

Lakota300cr,
It didn't take any thing at all. You just pull off the litle gaurd, wich you don't have to remove the shifter or anything. I used an impact to get the retaining nut off, But I beliece you can get it off with a rachet.
The sprocket works out graet, I was a little skeptical at first then I liked the useable gears a bunch.
You have a lot longer second and third, awsome in the turns for power sliding.
You 'll find it takes all the engine has to keep up with that sprocket.
Once the other mods get in I think this thing will realy fly.
I wish the mods were in now but you say the 20th. I haven't called yet but I'm sure they will tell me the same.

Thanks for the input Gaff. Very interesting. I'm not sure about it now. If you loose low AND mid. I don't think I want anything to do with it. That could get me into real trouble with some of the hills I climb. For 18 bucks or so though, may not be a bad idea to try. Yeah, how was it to get the old one off as asked b4?

Took 15 minutes total.
Rocky mountain sells the sprocket for $6.99, and with the mods you have it probably will work alot better on your bike with all the mods.
I'll be letting you know real soon.
How did your bike take to the jet and pipe, You probably got some throtle response and thats all the sprocket needs.
The sprocket takes up all the horse power to run with it.
If you could get a couple of more horses out of the jet kit and pipe I believe it will realy pull alot of gears.
I thought of taking it off untill the mods came but the tall real usable second and third with forth and fith pulling, I don't know stebob I think your going to like this thing.
I ran her hard at the spill-way in new orleans and I climbed hills ran it around a couple moto tracks took it for top end jaunts for about ten miles, it realy goes.
I tried to get a 300ex to drag me I road with him a while but he didn't want to run it to hard. (he had just picked it up)
It felt good, But I'm like you I want a real good bottom and mid-range, I just think the sprockets going to stay and I'll try to build off of it.
And if it doesn't work out I'll be out $6.99.

ahhhh....I've been wondering about you 14. I sent you an email several days ago. Did you get it?

Gaff,
Yes the pipe and jet kit do make quite a difference for response and power. I'm going to order the sprocket and give it a try.

Hay guys,
Today I pulled all the plastic off of the lakota.
What I have found may be another cheep upgrade.
I know some of us were talking and I said that I made Several holes in the lid of my air box cover so it couldn't be seen from the outside.
Well while I had the plastic off I noticed the air intake comes infront of the handle bars (under the nose piece of plastic). What you will find is a piece of probably one and a quarter inch of hose wich slips into a about one and a half inch hose cap. Note very very restrictive.
While reading the magazine up grades to the lakota it says we have to buy a 136 main jet from a yamaha jet ski. I believe, although I have not recieved the jet-kit yet, Is the 138 main jet will probably work with the holes drilled.
If your wondering how to keep water integraty on wet days, a piece of duct tape over the holes will be just fine.
