I remember Mojaves as being the joke of the sport quads back around 91 or so when I was riding my 87 Warrior. Now this buddy of mine swears that this guy he rides with has a 98 or 99 Mojave that hangs right with his 400EX up until fourth gear, WTF? Has Team Green put some serious HP in the Mojave recently or is he full of it? BTW, my wife has a 01 400EX and I have a 01 Raptor.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

That mojave must have some mods on it. My friend has a stock 2002 400ex and i have a mojave. We've drag raced of course. I can keep up until 3rd gear, then he leaves me in the dust. After i get my hop-ups for my mojave, i'll be plantin rocks in the 400ex riders' faces! fourstroketech 330cc kit, race cams, 36mm carb, ported, rev box... OOOO WEEE!!

You make me laugh! I have a 2001 400EX and just sold a 2001 Mojave (not stock) and although the Mojave is a much better and faster quad than my 2001 Warrior, it is a dog against a 400EX. A friend of mine still has a modded Mojave and sure it is peppy. So lets say he bores it and juices it up and it turns out that in a drag race the Mojave is as quick as a 400EX... Neck and neck till then end... How much money do you have in the Mojave? I bought my 400EX for $4900 out the door. A Mojave will cost you atleast $3900 out the door. Now you have $200 for a pipe, $40 for a filter, $150 for rear tires and rims, $50 for a jet kit, and how much for a big bore kit? $600?. So you now have over the $4900 a 400EX could have cost you for the same speed and excelleration... BUT, the 400EX still handles much better, jumps better, is lighter and is still under warranty. That is why I got rid of my Mojave before I dumped to much into it just to stay neck and neck with a 400EX in a drag... Forget the woods, track and trail. My advice... Save you pennies and opt for the 400EX. Nothing available handles and well and most riders will tell you that handling is more important than top speed. As a matter of fact, I have only hit 5th gear a few times on my 400EX and quickly needed to back off of it anyway. BTW, I am not a Kawasaki basher. I love team green and will be one of the first one's peering through the windows at the bike shop when they grow the nuts to launch a serious sport quad. But again, handling is much more important than top speed.

Even if it cost as much to make the Mojave equal to the 400 ex, you still have liquid cooling and reverse. Besides most places wont sell a 400ex for under $5,300 out the door. Besides with the new Quadsport on the market the 400 ex will be demoted to second fiddle in the 400 class. You can bet Suzuki will price this thing aggresively to earn market share.

Freakystone...True a stock mojave doesn't handle. True I have allot of money in my Mojave, but it was worth it. I didn't feel comfortable on a 400 when I rode one. The 400 also had a CT Racing 440 national kit in it. Now I'm going to tell you something that you might not believe. My Mojave is FASTER than that 440. Pick your chin up. I am a loyal TEAM GREEN racer. I deal with Four Stroke Tech because Mickey Dunlap is a genius with the Mojave motor. Here is what my Mojave has on it....

IdahoATV.com +3.5+1 control arms Prototypes
IdahoATV.com +3 swingarm (you can buy these now!)
250R Works Tripple rates with adj. rezzies - 11" of travel
250R PEP ZPS rear shock- nolink- 12" travel
Durablue +6 Eliminator Axle
IdahoATV.com +1 Antivibe Steering Stem
Renthal Fat Bars
Magura Hydrolic Clutch Kit
FULL FOUR STROKE TECH 330cc ENGINE KIT:
-FST Flow port
-FST Cams + Valve Springs
-Stainless Steel Valves
-FST330cc Sleeve + Wiseco 13:1 piston
-Lightened Flywheel
-FST 37mm Mikuni Carb Kit + K&N Pod filter
-SuperTrapp Race Exhaust
ALLOT MORE.....

Mickey is getting it ready for a 4 Wheel ATV Action Magazine Article. Allot more has been done but I can't show pictures yet. What do you think of that freakystone??

Wow. I retract part of my comment. Sound like you have a hell of a quad. What do you have in it though? Just curious?

Lurch,
The last time I visited both your and IdahoATV's website I did not see prices listed for the swingarm and a-arms. Do you have those handy? Also, is the swingarm set up to accept a bolt on skid plate? Thanks

BTW, your quad looks awesome!

Kawi spec chart shows that 2001/02 Mojave 250 still has the same old mill, 25 hp @8000 rpm & 16.6 ft-lbs @7500 rpm, as it did in 1991. Even the dry wt remains the same @379 lbs aftr 10 years. Hey, that's still better than most us!
