27's will fit without a lift, and it looks like 28's would be OK too. I have 27-10-12 on the front of mine. I believe the 28" ITP 589's are available now.

650vtwin, I have 27" 589's too. The clearance is very close between the right rear tire and the gas tank. Mine clears it by about 1/8". I was looking at your pictures and it looks like you have more clearance than I do. Did you put spacers or washer on the wheels? Or trim the tire?

They come in 27x9x12 & 27x11x12, and are a very good all around tire that wears good over 1100 miles on mine and still look almost new. I don't know if they will fit or not but I ride with a guy that has 27x10 & 27x12 swamp pros with no problems. The 589 ms seems to wear better than the 589 mt does.

92LT,

I have Prairie 400 rims. I have a good 3/4" clearance between the tire and the gas tank shield. I didn’t mention this because I know other people who run 27” 589’s on the stock rims.

650vtwin, thanks for the reply. I'm running aftermarket steel bayou rims, which I think are the same as on the prairie 400. I'll try putting more air in the tires, maybe that will help.

thanks for reply sorry it took so long to reply back. I put a hole in rear tire in sidewall so now I have to buy tires. I was looking at the 589 but my dealer has a set of 28" ITP blackwaters? I think that what he said and he said they would fit and he would give me a hell of a deal. I haven't decided yet what to get but it goes in for service Friday so I have to decide Anyone have sugg. I ride in deep mud alot and hard pack.

If you're asking which of the 2 is better on hardpack and deep mud, then it's definitely the 589. The Blackwater is a general all-around tire that doesn’t excel in any area. Especially if you ride in deep mud, I would get 589’s, MudBugs, or ?. Just my opinion from personnel experience.

92lt,
How much do the prairie 400 rims cost? What is the height and width?
How much do they weigh? Thanks.
