88 Kawi 300 2wd Possibly overheating
#1
Hi I have an older 88 Kawasaki 300 Bayou which seems to get very hot around the engine and the housing around the gear box. Also sometimes when the engine is at low rpm's it will all the sudden just stall on me and occationly backfire. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like your running lean.
Find your air mixture screw (on the newer bikes it's under the carb by the float bowl)
Start your bike at idle. start turning the screw conter clockwise untill it idles rough.
Then screw it clockwise untill the idle smooths out.
This will richen your low end to stop the back firing, but I'm not to sure it will cure all your heat problems.
It will cool it down a little, but I believe, from what I understand your saying, it sounds like your running lean on fuel.
Good luck and I hope this helps some!
