Just got my december issue of dirtwheels and they say there is going to be a new sport quad release as soon as next issue. They said it looks like it will be a 650 twin and fully automatic? Will reserve judgement about the automatic situation until I see it and race it. I still would love to own a 87 or 88 tecate in my opinion one of the best looking quads of all time. came to fast and didn't last near long enough

I can't wait to see what Kawi puts out. They usually are the kings of horsepower so I am sure it will not disappointing. I would rather see one with a clutch, but I guess if the auto tranny response time is quick enough then it may not be bad. If you are looking for a mint tecate 4 take a look at mine. I would like to get a four stroker for the trails I ride and have to sell it first. I love the rush of riding it but I just don't have the wide open space to really get on it.

what is supposed to be in the hole in the front fender? Is the blue plastic shaved a little high near the gas shut off? Is that the original plastic or after market?

I assume you are talking about the hole on the left side. That is where you fill the radiator. Yes, the blue plastic is shaved a little high (by the previous owner who did a good job). And yes the plastic is the original and in very good shape. Overall the machine is in excellent condition.

I saw that "spy" photo in 4-wheel action of the V-twin Kawi sport machine. I don't buy it. Why would Kawi use a big, heavy motor for a sport quad? The already have a liquid cooled, DOHC 650 motor in the KLR 650 that would make more sense to use in a sport quad. Or better yet they could use the very light, much newer design motor out of the KLX 300. Companies regularly punch those engines out to close to 400cc.

couldn't tell you why they may have picked that motor. However I am just thrilled with the possibility that yet another manufacturer may be throwing there hat in the ring of high performance. I also remember back a while ago when they were testing a 500 twin in a mojove frame. I am not saying this is the motor just the fact that there are alot of different engines it may be and I for one would be happy with any type of new high performance from kawasaki. I mean it could juust be the starting ground for some new radical high performance quads to come. Like canondale for example something that would be race ready off the showroom floor.

I agree about the KLX-300, you don't see any interest in running against this one.
I've road it, one of those bikes that they practicaly throw in a rench at sale time to remove the baffle.
This one is a runner!
I haven't seen decembers dirt wheels yet, I thought you guys knew it was a prarie motor, DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!!!

Well I just read it too and I'm not as optimistic as you all. They said that Kawasaki confirmed that they would be releasing 2 exciting new quads any day. If you figure that the article was probably written about a month ago it would be about the same time they released info on two exciting new quads.......the 360 Prairie and the 250 Bayou. Don't get me wrong surely they have something in the works, I'll just beleive it when i see it. After all, Kawasaki also confirmed a "new" sport quad in the summer of 2000. That quad???????? the 2001 Lakota Sport!
