13t sproket my opinion (gaff read)
#1
i put the 13t on about a couple weeks ago and i gotta say i dont think i like it that is at least for my style of riding (mostly woods and some small mx stuff) but for top end i dont like it its not that big of a deal i wasnt all that impressed all it made me do is shift alot more. so i'm going back to the 12t.oh and by the way gaff drag raced a 300ex,and a blaster and could only beat the blaster now i know you got a race coming and at first i thought the lakota would win but after today i dont know!!! these quads just dont have the top end those other quads have but i still really enjoy my quad even though iam seriously thinking about getting the z400 when it comes out. just thought i would let you guys know what i thought thanks

I put mine on when I was stalk, and could take it or leave it.
After my mods I absolutly loved it. My original reason for getting it was to stretch my gears some, not realy for top end reasons.
I put my 12T on last week to see how I liked it, it's been on for a week and I road a small coarse and it was a wake up, nice wheelies, lots of fun. Now I made it back to the bigger tracks I realy missed it, I'm going home thursday and intend on putting it back on.
I still run the stalk tires, 22", I see you have douglas 190's, what size are they.
It's funny you didn't notice a graet more speed, even stalk I noticed a feeling of about five more mph, maybe not that much but it was deffinately notice able.
The lakota deffinately needs a couple more ponies though.
I haven't drag raced any one yet, but the way I can out power some 300EX's on the track I would think I could take them in a drag, maybe the auto clutch just won't let us launch hard enough.
you say you had to shift more, what size sprocket did you take off?

the rims are the stock size's i also run 22inch tires. i like the rims alot so far they have held up to all the bashing i can give them and they look great. dont get me wrong i noticed a little bit of difference in top end i just didnt think it was all that great but again its all in how and where you ride. your right about the auto clutch it just wouldnt launch as fast as the 300ex he was gone by the time i got to 5th.it had the stock gear on it when i bought it then i went down a to an 11t if you can believe that it was fun in the woods cause you could stay in 4th all day but anywhere you could open it up it was just to much gear so then i tried the 13t(still running it)and i'm just not sure if i like it, now i do have the ids2 exhaust on it but no jet kit or performance air filter i'm running 10discs and my plug is just a little dark almost perfect.do you think i should re-jet would i notice any difference? i seem to be running real good as it is, no bogging or sputtering hell i dont even have to choke it, it fires on the first crank let me know what you think. thanks!

WOW,a 11T to a 13T has to be around a 15 to 20% gearing change, ya I can see your point now.
Not that I think that it's bad or good, just I understand the far different riding styles.
Like I said, I originaly baught the 13T to stretch out my gears a little so I wouldn't have to shift so quickly.
The 11T probably lets you stay in fourth and do pretty much any thing.
I jet every thing. The jet kit allows for quicker response and adds horse power to your mid range, not to mention lets the power range widen. It truly is a good mod.
The air filter is a must with a pipe and jet kit, I perfer K&N, but thiers a few good ones out thier.
The stalk lakota is known for it's air intake restriction, and with the IDS2 my opinion would make me believe that after the sixth or perhaps the eigth disc the air box is holding you back from thier on out.
With out doubt, if you put a air filter in your plug would probably go white on you.
I believe that you could get some more acceleration out of the lakota with about $85, for a jet kit with filter, I just don't know weather you would want to or not, it all depends on what kind of riding you do.
So far I've been dialing the lakota pretty good, and found good use for the 12T and the 13T sprockets.
I also believe I'm pushing 60mph, don't get me wrong here I could care less about going that fast I just use it to judge my performance, but any way, I don't know about drag racing the lakota, I just know I've been practicing and testing the heck out of it and they don't like to see me coming when I come down pit row.
They know I will make them use every inch of thier bikes to beat me, and they beat me, but I also beat them!

Gaff,
I found my ticking problem. I decided to re-check the valves again and found them to me out of specs on the high end. Way to much space. The mecanic I toke it to to help me for the first valve check, adjusted them when the motor was hot. After the motor cools down, the spacing increased .03mm over the high end of the specs. I reset the valves when the motor was cold in the middle of the range and presto, no more ticking. Thanks for your help. I did not really consider the valves until you mentioned it. I am using the 134 jet with the stock needle, but with the needle hole drilled out using the drill bit from the Jet kit. I tried changing to the needle provided in the kit on the 3rd slot down and founf the Lakota did not have the same pull when changing gears. With the stock needle and larger hole, the Lakota really has snappy power in the mid range. I am going to put the stock needle back in. I was wondering if you have tried this combo yet? It is strange, but with the jet kit needle, I lose the torque in mid range.

Damn I've been waiting for you 300cr,
The engine must be cold, not even a quick start up, I've made that mistake so many times.
The stalk needle, how interesting, I will try this as soon as I get home, thier is a problem in the transition point between idle and mid range.
Please tell me you didn't drill out the needle hole but the lift hole rite be side it.
If you did, do the lift hole, this will improve slide speed.
Let me know about your riding in the mountains, whats your review, how did you do against your brother in laws mojave.
Hows the 13T sprocket.
Give me it all 300, I've been out here waiting all week end for your review

Gaff,
I did not get a chance to get to the mountains this Sunday, sorry. I was able to test the lakota on the local back roads here. I hope to get to the mountains next week. My brother-in-law went to the beach this past weekend. The Lakota ran very well, but I had that ticking I was worried about. Now, that problem is gone. I did drill the slide hole and not the needle hole. Try putting the stock needle back in. It seems to work great with the enlarged slide hole. Anyway, the 13t sproket works great with the supertrapp and new twin air filter. Big difference on top end speed and torque throughout the entire rpm range.

Out standing,
When I get home I intend on, removing the carb and the exhaust.
I'm removing the exhaust because I still have two very small leaks. I have some high temp sylicone and hope this will do it.
The carbs coming off as I have been finding water in my sons carb with a suspition it's the fuel we have been buying.
I have the 13T sprocket to put back on, and then I'll stick the stalk needle in.
I do hope this helps this one low rpm, I don't want to call it a bog, or a stumble, but maybe a split second flat spot.
It doesn't happen to much, but at the rite time at the rite amont of throtle, it happens.
It showed up more so when I was launching for a drag.

I don't believe so.
You will have the option of only putting four or six disc in the pipe to keep you from getting lean.
I have the cap removed and holes drilled in my air box, before I had my pipe and jet kit I had a K&n air filter and was a touch lean.
