this is the first time i have posted on a forum but i read them alot.
now to my question, i purchased a 650 about a month ago and i noticed
today when i put it in reverse if you try to go very fast the engine boggs down ,just wondering if this is normal.the thing runs great no problems so far 110 miles.it wheelies from a dead stop in lo or high
except in loose dirt or sand. the firt time i almost fliped it. also i have been looking at dirt devel tires are they any good.
thanks

Hello Jeffoxsr,

I'm looking to sell my Yamaha Raptor and purchase a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650 V-Twin. Here is my question, I'm looking for a machine with allot of torque for going up steep inclines, mud and to go over small jumps and wheelie. Does this machine slide easy? I know it's not a sport ATV, but I'm just looking for the major differences, that's all. Is this the machine for me? I heard a number of good things about this machine. Any input from you or anyone is greatly appreciated!!

Thank You,

IronBear

If you want the ultimate 4x4 sport type machine this is it. I was leary, but the 650 exceeded my expectations. I can slide it 30-35 mph around corners with the stock tires. I've jumped over 20 feet, and over 2 feet vertical. It is very sporty. You are making a similar transition to what I did, so you will probably be very happy. It is very graceful on the jumps, and has more than enough power for any hill.

I would agree with Jeffoxsr. My two cents...Anyone who is used to the thrill of the Raptor or a Banshee, will love the 650.

Thank you both for your quick responses. This machine sounds very impressive and I'm looking forward to riding one.

Will have my 26 mudrunner by end of the week .WIll let you all know how they perform on my 650 .
Question or Problem
Today when I shifted into low then hit the hills I had to stop and shift back into high. In low the is a loud knocking and crunching sound both in 2wd or 4wd .
Is this the shift adjustment the most 650 owner had the dealer fix .
I wait anyones reply
I also get a knocking sound when I hit the bakc brake hard .But this sound seem like its just the belt slowing down in the gear case .

If it makes the same noise when you are on and off the gas in low gear at slow speed then it's probably the normal drivetrain play you hear.
