Mounting a windshield on the 650
#2
I have not seen it, but i believe it might take some trimming the red plastic. I am not afraid to do it for two reasons:
1. If I were buying a used quad, trimmed plastic to mount a winshield would not deter me from buying the quad (like it would if it was a car).
2. The only way I will part with this 650 is when I leave this world and my cold dead fingers can't hold on anymore, so it does not matter what I trim.
I am one of those guys that parks their truck far from the store, so it sees less door dings and shopping carts. But, the quad gets used like a quad. It has scratches. It has one intentional hole, and one accidental hole. I do the maintenance on it, though.
If you need the windshield to ride, go for it.

As far as windshields go I have seen just one made for the 650. You have to get it in Canada. I live in Northern Maine about 10 miles from the Canadien border and have seen some 650's come by my store with windshields on them and I've gotta say that they look pretty good. The plexiglass part of the shield is'nt very tall. And the whole unit screws into the side mirror holes you have by your handgrips. The windshield also comes with a nice set of side mirrors already attached. The one guy I talked to said that the whole unit cost him around $150 American dollars. I'm planning on getting one this weekend in Edmunston N.B. so when I do I'll post more specifics for you.

Hi Trailblazer,
I mounted a cobra winshield on my 650. I took all of the handle bar plastic off. It has smoked colored plastic at the bottom, so it looks pretty good. I just remounted the speedometer
with the 1 bolt on top and 2 zip ties on the bottom. I havn`t
had any trouble with this set up. The cobra windshield is
a quick detatch by just 4 set screws. The main brackets stay
on your handlebars. Happy trails, Birdman.
