650 starting problems
#2
I have to open mine up a little to start it warm. I think a lot of other people said that too. I think you are looking for the thing running real bad and wasting gas with the choke thing.
A guy that had warranty work done on his choke described the part they put on, and it sounded like the part mine already has. And what do you know, mine has never had the choke stick. Maybe they fixed it before mine was made.
All engines start and run a little different, I thought the sluggish way the 650 starts is due to the compression release system it uses.
Oh well, enjoy the 650. I love mine. I like it more now that I have bigger tires. Can't wait to sell the stockers (I'm keepin the rims). Only problem is I rip the plastic trim up on the front fenders (3 different times).

I have to give mine a little throttle also to crank my 650, my Bayou 220 is the same way. This seems to normal on non-butterfly choked carbs.I have noticed on bikes that use a butterfly to choke the carb you don't have to give them any throttle to crank them, hot or cold. If this 650 is like my Bayou 220 (I know this is a bad comparison, but the principal is the same) if you keep the choke on very long after you crank it the plugs will foul after awhile. I think I will put a couple of plugs in the toolbox and some real tools in there to change them if need be. Still like my 650, it pulls harder than my XR600. Just wish that plastic was a little bit stronger. I broke the black piece loose where it bolts on to the front of the left floorboard somehow, I don't remember hitting anything but I guess it hit a stick up in the trail because it does hang down a good bit there on the front fender.
