This is my first post to this message board and I'm not really aware of the who is considered to be the Mojave Guru. I need some sound advice in regards to this article I read online @ Dirt Wheels Mag In short the article on the Mojave mods says to replace stock filter with a K&N airfilter ($59.00) A White Bros. E-Series S-Bend Aluminum Muffler ($250.00) and front & rear Dura Blue Spacers for added track width and added stability ($160.00)

Now for my questions!

The replacement airfilter? from the price tag this obviously is not anything more than a factory style washable/high-flow airfilter correct? Which I suppose means no rejetting.

The White Bros. Exhaust? Did anyone notice a header pipe available for the new muffler, I sure didn't. Again no rejetting mentioned!

The Dura Blue Spacers? I would appreciate the added track & stability. Are these really worth the investment of $160.00

I have a 2001 Stock Mojave and Trailblaze with (2) Honda 300EX quads and a Yamaha Blaster. I **** all over the Blaster but tough to hang with the 300EX's. I'm not really interested in the rejetting because of all the hoopla I hear about it. And this article says nothing about rejetting. So can these few simple mods really help me catch up to a 300EX. Should I try it?

My biggest concern is more airflow with the K&N and no rejetting, on top of that the White Bros pipe and still not rejetting, can't be an increase in HP? can it?

Please Help! I have a hole burning in my pocket, and you all should know what that is like. Any advice is appreciated

I have a uni filter and a white bros pipe in my mo and it made it a little quicker. You should buy a kn jet kit for it(56.99) and that really wakes up the throttle response quite a bit. It comes with needles and some main jets with good instructions on how to jet it. The wheel spacers are good but there not good for jumping I hear. If you jump a lot your better to go with a longer axle and a-arms but thats pretty expensive.

What about the header pipe for the White Bros. muffler?

They don't sell the e-series with a header pipe. If you want a header pipe go with a supertrapp ids2. I guess it depends on the type of silencer or the flow charecteristics. Some have em and some don't.

Mental are you using the White Bros. E-series muffler on your stock header pipe?

I have read that article, and it's good advice!
I looked into the spacers and found that a set of douglas wheels with a +1 offset cost about the same.
The white bros outfit does offer a head pipe, for additional cost of course, I talked with a guy who got one and he said it offered no more performance without engine mods.
I personaly love a K&N filter, and it is quite better than stock, and also K&N are a life time filter!!!
Jetting is a must, get the jet kit, it's worth it's wieght in gold.
I also perfer the supertrapp exhaust, but thats me.

I'm not much in to drag racing, but with the mods your talking about, you should be able to whip the 300ex
I race against them quite a bit, and they pose no threat. One observation I did make about the hondas is thier engine is further back in the frame than the kawis, this is were the light front end and possibly the exiting corner speed comes from.

Also the prices you quoted are kinda high, go to www.rockymountainatv.com I bought all my mods thier and it was $308 including shipping

dvn, The white bros fits the stock header pipe and they offer no headpipe for the mo. The supertrapp comes complete with a LARGER headpipe to increase mid and top power. It comes in quiet and race series. get the race series if you decide on supertrapp. The stock mo air box is restrictive even with a k&n in it. For what a k&n replacement cost you can buy a k&n clamp on and a water resistant outerwear. then remove all your stock air box system and run the filter directly on the carb. this setup is fine as long as you don't ride in seat deep water. Go up one size on the main to a 135, check plug and if it is very white go up to a 138. A 135 should do it though. You should be able to run with the 300ex's now unless they are not stock. A stock mo is actually very slighty faster than a stock 300ex.
also if top speed and not acceleration is what you need to keep up you can put on a 13 tooth frt sprocket. this is a cheap ($16) way to increase top end and the change on the bottom is not noticeable.
when these were the only mods i had, i roosted all over piped 300exs.

as for the wheel spacers, i have never tried them. I am using wider axle and a arms, and the width helps cornering. You can turn your front rims around cheaper than the frt spacers and this works good and will add several inches to the width. you have to drill a hole in the opposite side of the rim for a valve stem and then put a valve stem in the original hole backwards. You could then try spacers only on the rear.

I actually just finished the a arms. made them myself out of 4130 chromoly. These are on the mojave for my son. we have three mojaves, mine, his, and a spare parts bike. For his Christmas present he wanted parts and a setup to race mx with. So i tore it down to the frame and made many mods. I built the +3+1 a arms, tie rods, and a +2.75 swing arm out of chromoly. The a arms are fully caster and camber adjustable. Modified the frame to have higher and adjustable frt shock mounts. It has custom axis fully adjustable shocks for a 250r on the front and rear. the rear is a dc2 no link type. I also made a custom complete antivibe steering stem out of chromoly that uses a Houser antivibe clamp. I made a spring loaded wrist saver similar to a houser "wristrester". Also made a custom lower steering stem mount from aluminum with a replaceable bearing. Cut the front horns from the frame and added a cross bar and welded in some threaded inserts for a bumper mount kinda like a honda. bought a ac bumper from Mickey Dunlap without the mount bars on it and then made it a custom fit. I also removed the bar and bracket for the stock front silencer mount just to save a little weight. Added welded in pegs to the frame and foot pegs to mount dg nerfs without any cheesey clamp on u bolts or brackets. Modified the dg nerfs with an extra bar that goes up to the top mount hole of the original foot gaurds to make them stronger and keep his foot from going off the back. Modified a armadillo rear skid and made custom mounts on the swing arm for it. it has a Rad Manf bearing carrier and a durablue eliminator axle. Cr bend dominator bars and a dominator clutch lever, steel braided brake lines, metaltek skid and custom front skid under ac bumper, all bolts replaced with socket head stainless steel and ss nylock nuts,13/41 gearing,.190 douglas wheels and holeshot tires, prm grab bar. I am sure there is much other stuff that I am forgetting about.
Engine is not that trick but has a wiesco high comp piston, FST stainless valves and high rev springs, supertrapp 4" racing series exhaust, K&n clamp on with outerwear and a few other goodies. We are going to build a new motor for it out of the spare part bike motor. It will be a 330 with much more stuff.
The frame and swing arm is powdercoated royal blue and the a arms, steering stem and tie rods are done in silverdillo. the plastic is green race cut with a blue smoothie hood and a blue seat cover. It is not quiet finished as we are still bolting things together and have a few small parts to make yet.

I will make lots of pictures and try to get them up for everyone to see. I don't know how to do this but plan to get some help from Lurch on this. (You listening Lurch?) Lurch is one of the nicest guys you could meet. I have met him at FST and at a local race in Ashville NC and they don't come any freindlier than he. His mo is better looking in person than on the web. He keeps that thing spotless clean. Anyway, after braggin on him so much maybe he will help me get some pictures up. I should have the mo ready in about two more weeks. I hope I can meet Lurch at the last indoor race in ashville with it.

I wasn't going to say anything about it til it was complete and i had pictures up, but i let it slip about the a arms in that reply and then you ask about them. I made a jig for the swing arm that i can make + 2.75 or +4 swing arms in and jigs for a arms that will make +2+1 or +3+1 arms using any type of shock. Before anyone asks, I do not plan to make these except for my own bikes. There is a lot of work that goes into one of a kind hand made stuff like this and i do not have the time to make my own, must less someone elses. I would love to do it if i had the time. I would like to see everyone of you mojave guys have this stuff available, remember that the Idahoatv stuff like Lurch has is available.
