A friend of mine is considering buying a tecate4. Are the factory a or aftermarket parts out there for these green machines? Also is platic tough to get?

 

The Tecate-4 is probably the most difficult to get parts for. There are very few parts that are still available from the Kawi dealer (forget about plastics), and the only aftermarket plastic company that makes pieces for the Tecate is Maier (and they don't make the complete set, plus the quality and fit sucks). You can still find quite a few used parts on eBay and various classifieds, but overall, it's an expensive and time consuming struggle to get good quality pieces. I've got two Tecate-4's. One is in pieces, and I'm debating whether or not it's worth investing the time, money, and effort into making it whole again, the other is almost too nice to ride and take a chance of screwing it up, so I'm thinking of maybe getting out of them altogether. Anybody interested?

Hey I am interested in either, email me or somthing and lets talk about it. I have a 88 tecate4 and it tears a hole in the wind. I really like the bike, unfortunatly as you have already stated....it is just hard to find parts.
