Dynojet kit for Mojave - Install w/ plastic on or off?
#1
I just started installing my kit and have not been able to get the float bowl screws loose with the plastic in place. I was able to remove the carb from the boots to install the needle but now I need to install the new mainjet and can't get the float bowl screws. Should I remove the front and rear fenders? I did it once before to adjust the valves at the ten hour service. Pain in the ***!

I have had very good success with leaving the plastic and choke cable on.
I just pull it from the boots and remove the fuel and over flow lines then pull it out on the right side and can do just about any thing.
That choke cable just pro longs the job so long, not to mention it cramps my fingers trying to get it in and out.
I can do full carb adjustments in less than ten minutes.
But if this is your first time, mentalmojaves way is the best to get a good up close look at it.
I also had a couple poeple here and at home have problems sealing the diaphram on the slide correctly.
A good quick way to do that is get it in almost all the way around, you will notice the last half inch can be aggrivating to get in, but get it almost all the way around and let the back side of the carb have that little bit not go in, put the slide cover on with just slight pressure on the diaphram and you can take your finger nail and just push the little piece in and you will feel the cover snap down for a good seal.
Just a little .02 if you all have been having a little trouble with that diaphram

Removing the fuel line was something I didn't do. I'll try that and remove the choke cable before taking the plastic off. I need to check out the diaphram seal as well since I didn't do anything special when I put the cover back on. Thanks guys!
