Here is a picture of the new choke cable return springs for the 650. As you can see the new ones are alot stronger than the old ones. I put them in along with a new choke cable two weeks ago and so far so good.

I got the springs at my dealer at no cost. My choke was staying on because the old springs were to weak to push the choke plungers back out. If you're not having choke related problems then you don't have to worry about changing them. It's sort of like a silent recall I guess.

What are the symptoms of the choke springs being to weak. Is yours some of the first models out and the newer models have the mod done???

Thanks for all your information and digital photos.
Sorry for getting in this discussion so later, but what were the symptoms that caused you to change the springs ?
Backfiring, hard starting, poor mileage, hesitation ?
Having some of those problems with my stock 650.
Thanks again.

Fred244, Sounds like your choke is staying on. They're the same symptoms my 650 had before I replaced the choke cables and springs. No problems since.
