Go Mojave

I have a new 2002 mojave and I think it is great. it's DOHC and Liquid Cooling really makes the thing accelerate fast and has a good top speed as well. it works good for woods riding in my opinion because it has a clutch, this is a great thing when going out of corners. also the mojave has a smaller wheelbase and is very light so it can pass anything. i ride with piped 300ex's, warriors, 400ex's, scramblers, 250r's, DS650's, raptors and banshees, and I have been able to keep up fine with all of them. the mojave is much faster than the warrior in tight woods, and with a pipe and air box mods you can beat one on the top end as well. the mojave is much better than the blaster because it has reverse, 4-stroke technology, DOHC. i would def go with tha mojave.
r u gonna sell your banshee?

Glad you like it that much, it is a real nice quad.
Some of the others will dog the moe, but it is a graet woods quad, and they do pretty good at MX as well. The after market has plenty of mods for it, just look a little.

I just bought my new Mohave yesteday and rode it I absolutely love it.I'm proven on 4 strokes now>Dont get me wrong I love my 2 smokes I mean strokes But the Mohave has a fat torque curve.I rode it in 3 gear its almost like an automatic,my friend told me i didnt hear u shift, quit winding it out,yet i shifted 3 or 4 times and ya can just ride it in 3 gear all day.Its fast, handles great, power thru the powerband everywhere. fuel efficient fast, and I get a kick out of that reverse gear, clean them tires off in reverse. Now I wonder what are the problem areas and reliability of the quad? A couple time I let out the clutch and it made a squaking tin foil noise i was in sand trying to get momentum and I didnt abuse the clutch.Does any 1 have or feel they should have the extended plan?I know 2 strokes are limited and rather ride 4 stroke then no stroke.I stalled it a couple of time and had to use the choke as ahot start button and the only thing that annoys me is that foward kick starter,it flips up and hits ya in the chin or fold ups each time.Thats my only complaint really I feel my Banshee is really a handful in the woods and the mohave doesnt feel any slower in the woods then the banshee in fast it feels faster like i could set better lap times w it. I would recommend this bike to any 1 who wants an affordable reliable good performing bike.Every 1 puts down mohaves but to me Honda air cooled 300 vs 250 liquid cooled and I believe the 250 will get it every time.Warrior is a big quad, kinda portly for the woods and people are now buying Raptors.I was gonna go w the blaster but the Mohave has reverse and I really as I get older dont want to hav eto wrench on it more then I ride it so that was the deciding vote for me.I'm gonna miss 2 strokes just fer a pipe is like 3 hp there reeds another 1.5 etc w out big motor mods. But i bet if Kawi put a bigger motor in it like a klx 365 jobbie w the tps the bike will rip 2 and 4 strokes a new u know what.Maybe even efi too but then its getting expensive>1 more thing does any 1 have the FST 411 kit and how is it and is it reliable?I think I need to slow down and take a break because im more excited then a virgin a prom nite and we all know the answer to that 1.More seat time LOL!

Lurch has the FST 330 kit, and he has plenty to say about it. I have the 330 kit for the lakota, but haven't got it in yet.
The moe is a short stroke big bore, this will give it a two stroke sense, and you are correct in you can actusly move faster through the woods than the banshee, now it may not feel like the power but you do move faster.
The honda guys bash the lakota and mojave quite a bit, to be honest I go against 300EX's all the time on the track and out in the woods, they are absolutely no challange thus far, but it is rider ability that does most of it not the quad, although this forum gets old because of the honda riders and thier belief that by a honda and it's an automatic win.
I have hierd that the moe makes noises if you try to lug it at low rpm's, because of the big bore and short stroke it should be held at a higher rpm.
You will also notice coming from a two stroke that on four strokes there is more power and speed by shifting earlier than the two strokes, try not to over rev the four stroke, although the moe has a rev limiter, but I find that over revving the four strokes shorten cylinder life quick.
Well I don't have the moe but thier is a lot of poeple here who do and could give you some good info.
Welcome to kawasaki, we get dogged a lot on the forum, but it is funny how at the track you never hier any thing bad except, that little bike realy moves..........

I certainly rode it like I stole It and then my friend gave me hell bout beating on it 1st day, I was like yeah yeha i got the 3 year maintenance agreement, usually it would be other way around Id tell him and hed tell me ya ya LOL.unfortunately i went to leave his house and car quit 15 miles from his house in the boondocks,I froze for 3 hours until i figured things out.Funny thing is last foray out car ran great quad quit, this time quad ran great car quit,Hey its always something it seems no matter how much meticulate care ya take of things.Thank you by the way Ive always been green w envy kinda rider if ya know what I mean. Im seeing red from seeing RED too many times,I cant wait till I get to chew up a nice 400 ex or 300 ex and laugh I shouldnt talk like that but neither should the Honda camp.alot of atv mags are very biased and ANything RED gives them a big stiffy it seems.

I want to know if ya have any problem w cough n stall?A couple times i stalled it or it seemed it just quit I would kick and it would seem to load up and pop and shoot the kickstart back up hard.I pushed the choke on and a few more kicks later it fired up.I read the manual and it said it had lean epa jetting to appease the epa.I like to ge trid of this problem but I dont want to blow my warranty or lose that gas mileage. Its not all the bad just a slight inconvenience and makes me alil nervous when I'm kicking away and it aint firing.

yes from the factory the mojave is set up very lean because of all the D.E.C regulations. the mojave does run pretty good stock. but if you were to put on a K+N Power Kit which consists of (K+N Hi-Flow air-filter, perfect jetting, and all the needles and everything else you will need)for about $99.00 the thing will have 2 times as much power. my friend has his like that and it will blow anything away in the woods, and gives even about 2mph top end. i would definetly go with the K+N power kit.
