Hello Everyone, thanks to all that have replied to me about my 650 prairie questions. Next question is about tires, I here alot about all different types and sizes, I don't want to go to big but not to small either. Most of my rideing is in Maine, it is high speed with the ocasional mud hole thrown in for fun. After last year I witnessed 2 flats with stock 650 tires and decided not even to waste my time with them. I am thinking of figureing new tires into the cost of my machine, but what to get??
Is their a site out their that sells all of the brands so I can compaire price and tread patterns, my dealer in Rhode Island dosen't stock many different types.

You sound like you might want Dirt Devils or Mudrunners. highlifter.com has alot of the tires. Croffroad.com has alot also. I am probably going with Mudbugs because they come in 27x8 for the fronts.

Sussex...try Rocky Mountain ATV. I've made alot of purchases through them and they have the best price on alot of different items. Shipping will get you pretty good on tires so make sure with your dealer that they cant be competitive price wise after you figure shipping into the cost.

I'm very happy with my tire choice but from the sounds of it I might do a little more mud running that you do.

Good luck with whatever you get. They will have to be better than the stocks.

Cartman,
I was also think about bearclaws. Are the 25 shorter, same as, or taller then the stock tires?

How do 489's and 489XT's compare to bearclaws? Are bearclaws 2, 4, or 6 ply?

I would look into either Dirt Devils or Gators I think they are the same price, 6 ply too.
check out www.denniskirk.com I bought mine through www.rockymountainatv.com but found out later that after you price in shipping dennis kirk was cheaper. Dennis kirk has free shipping which makes a big difference.

92LT.....I have run both 489ATs and 489XTs the XTs are slightly more aggressive and 6 ply rated. In my opinion the 489 series tires are the best all around tire available. For what its worth the magazines rated the 489s as one of the best all around tires also. I do not have any personal expiereince with the bearclaws so I cant give a fair comparison. The 489ATs are a bit thin skinned and I have plugged a number of holes over the years in them but they do very well on all terrain and handle and steer well. I havent had any holes in the 489XTs as of yet but I dont have nearly the miles on them that I do on the ATs.
