i own a lakota and with a 13tooth front sprocket it does about 55 but stock it does around 53 and i belive the mojave does around 55-57. thier isn't much diff. between them in acceleration about the only thing the mojave will beat it in is a drag race on my be in the sand but on the trails the lakota is king.

hey lurch what kind of mods do you have on it to make it go 75! I have read all most all the magazines with the lakota and the mojave and they all say on a gps they go about the same at 54-57. the mojave is a little faster but not by much. ( i own a lakota, riden a mojave ).i clocked mine at about 55-56 with only a 13 tooth front sprocket as a mod.

I don't have it in front of me but the lakota is 51.3 mph and mojave is 54 mph stock.
In a drag the mojave has an edge with the clutch, but in the trails and MX track the lakota has a slight edge.
With my mods I GPS ran it with the jetting a little off and it ran a 58mph run, might be a half mph faster with the jetting rite. It feels much faster due to the accelleration is way faster.
Hay lurch long time no chat, hope things are going well!!!

Not trying to argue here Gaff, but how do you figure that the Lakota has an advantage in the woods or on a MX track? They have the same suspension except for the 1" longer swingarm on the Lakota, plus the Lakota weighs a lot more and doesn't have as strong of a motor. Again I am not trying (or going) to go back and forth on this, just want to hear your opinion.

In decembers atv-action issue they posted faster lap times by the lakota.
Me personally, I have practiced with mojave's on the tracks, but realy didn't have any experienced riders on them so what happened there I can't cont.
The bottom end of the lakota appears to be better, as it seems to me, but once again the rider ability has alot to do with that.
The top speeds in the same mag are, mojave 55.1 mph, and lakota 52.4.
I realy think these quads are verry close, I would give the bottom end to the lakota and the quicker accelleration to the mojave.
Like I said they are so close but different riding styles, I don't believe I could argue anything about wich would be better. You can read three different mags and get three different answers.
This issue dogs the mojave and praises the lakota, but like you said they are the same so how do they figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
