WHICH WINCH WOULD BE BEST?

Sorry to hear about the horrible experience w/ the solinoid. Warn says it is only on the one w/ "white rogers" written out on it. Mine says WR only and they said that is the good one. Mine has never let me down so far. I'm thinking on having them send an extra one in case??

Actually TheLastCION the insurance companies have been EXCELLENT to work with. My insurance agent made some phone calls and got us an Adjuster who specializes in fire claims and the two of us have been able to reach common ground on every matter to this point. What I was saying is that if a winch in installed by a dealer rather than by an individual then the insurance company has much better chance of being reimbursed for the claim thru subrogation. I had no clue how powerful a tool subrogation is in the insurance industry put as long as your insurance carrier has an unbroken line of responsibility they are much more apt to work on your behalf. For example, our insurance company can go after the following parties in order to reclaim the moneys they had to put out to cover our claim: 1) The Dealer who installed the winch, 2) the distributor who sold the recall winch to the dealer, 3) the winch manufacture and 4) the maker of the solenoid. If an individual decided to install the winch him or herself in order to save a few bucks then the likely hood that the insurance company can successfully go after the other party is substantially reduced because all of them will come back and say they cannot be responsible because the winch was not installed by an authorized dealer.
For individuals who do not have a good insurance agent and insurance carry they have two alternatives: 1) a company such as you and your fathers – and thank god there are individuals like you guys out there to help someone who has been through a fire or any other disaster because as you know first hand it’s all foreign unless you know the ropes and how the system works. 2) The second alternative is to hire the an attorney and when you do that everyone from your insurance agent up will promptly refer you to their attorneys, therefore this alternative can become very expensive and extremely slow.
We have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with quality people from our agent to the local stores who issued us in store credit until we received money from the insurance company. I guess that’s one of the good things about living in a smaller community. Most important is the Good Lord decided that everyone in our family had more to offer this world and got us all out safe.
Today we are moving back into our house and will have taken another big step towards putting this behind us.

Well I am glad to hear that you are getting back into your home. For the most part, that is the most difficult thing that we have to tell people. Is that they are going to be out of their home for 2 months. But when they finally get to move back in, they have a brand new home, and know that everything is behind them.

I saved a ton of cash and bought the U2500 on ebay for $259 new in box. My Kawi dealer sold me a rocker switch for $59, a mounting kit for $25, and a fairlead for $35. It all works great so don't be scared to get this unit. They also installed everything for about $100. I like to think I saved a few dollars when all was said and done. But the U2500 will do fine.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. When disaster strikes it sure makes you realize how important family is. Thank god everyone got out alright. Keep fighting those corporate bast--ds they don't care about you or I. They'll spent four times as much on lawyers fees than being honourable and settling the claim right off.
