mikuni carb for mojave
#1
Since I've been having trouble with my carb on my mojave a buddy of mine has a brand new mikuni tm 34mm flat-slide carb he used like a month and then he sold the quad with the stock carb. Would this be a good choice for the mojave??

that carb will work fine. you will probably have to modify the top motor mount to clear the cable and top of the carb. You will also have to modify your thumb throttle to get more stroke so the carb will fully open. You can replace the thumb throttle with a Honda Or Warrior model that has more stroke. You still have to modify the honda a little though.

I have Mickey Dunlap's 37mm Mikuni Flat slide carb on kine. I was lucky enough to not need any grinding. I use a Motion Pro CR Pro Twist throttle on mine so stroke isn't a problem for me. I use to have a YZ250F carb on it but the accelerator pump hit Mickey's new header he made me.

Thanks guys but we found out what my problem is but we haven't found whats causing it. When testing to see if the carb holds its pressure you are supposed to put it upside down. When you turn it upright the pressure should drop to zero and mine stays the same. Tell you more when I know more.

mental, I'm not sure I understand just what you are talking about. But here is a test you can do. Try this both upright and upside down (especially upside down). Pull the slide in the carb all the way open, then let it go abruptly. It should return kinda slowly. If it slams shut with no real resistance the diaphram is leaking. I think a new diaphram list for over a 100 bucks, so I hope it is ok. I once had a carb that acted like the diaphram was bad but it ended up being the the screen in the tank was restricted just enough to not flow enough gas to the carb when you got on it.

I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about either...lol!!! I'll be able to try the carb tommorow and if it still don't work right I'll try the diaphram test. By the way thats an awesome job you did on that mo.
