In this week's Maine Sunday Telegram there were two articles in regards to reckless ATVers. The biggest one dealt with a land owner battling a few of rouge riders who refuse to obey his wishes (staying off his land). INSTEAD THESE FOOLS CONTINUE TO RIDE ON HIS PROPERTY!!! Now the land owner is forced not only to post signs, but hidden cameras, gates and other blockades. The other article spoke of ATVers riding on snowmobile trails. People need to start using a little common sense!!!

I found the article on the newspaper webite.
article
It may not be up for long. I'll see if they'll let me reprint it on the web and usenet for all of us.

The state of Maine seems to have a pretty good attitude towards our sport.

It wouldn't take to many morons to change it. Maine sounds like the best riding in the 5 states of New England. The other states are sure to be watching what happens to Maine's trail program. A few knuckleheads could ruin it for many thousands of people.

We need to get out there and assist the state employees and landowners in enforcing the regulations or we will lose our priveliges, obviously. We can't let a few people ruin it for us. I think we can organize faster than the sledders did because we have the internet to do it. I have nothing against them and i was and will be again one of them. It's just there's more months of riding for atv's. We have to make them realize this is also a family sport now and most of the riders are adults. Do not get me wrong, i own both a sport and utility quad and i have much more fun on my mojave but if we don't nip this in the bud now we will lose all priveliges we have now not to mention the ones we are working on. This does not mean to be violent to the reckless people but to try to educate and enlighten them.

Thanks for responding positively, if you haven't already take a look in the other forums for this topic. I'm not trying to be a pain, but its time people start to realize that our sport could be in danger if the public doesn't see a positive change in some attitudes.
