Okay, i was reading the specs on a prairie 300 4x4 and it said the dry weight was 604 pounds, now i pondered on this for a minute and then it hit me. Kawasaki said they wanted to maintain their "code" of ATVs and keep the 650 weight under 600 pounds. So how come the 300 weighs more than 600 pounds. I must be missing something. Please reply.

I believe the 650 weighs 606lbs. That's the weight they wanted to stay under.

They have self imposed 275kg as a design guideline. That's the real number, and it is why some weigh up to 606 (dry). That's why my 650 has so many Aluminum and machined steel alloy parts, so it can be made strong with less weight. That's why some other quads look like they are made from whatever stock was available at the steel yard, because they don't care if the quad weighs 740lb. I sure as heck do.

I guess for marketing reasons, a lot of quads are only 600. That, and that fact that 600 is almost 275kg causes a lot of people to "say" 600lbs weight limit, but it's really 275kg (606.something pounds).

Anybody know what the 360 weighs?

Anybody know what was not done to the 300 to make it weigh as much as the 650? I know the 400 has a big heavy crankcase, and hold more oil. Thicker plastic. Steel axle housing. I haven't weighed this stuff, but I find it funny that the 300 4x4 is not a lot lighter than the 650.

I heard that the 360 was almost as heavy as the 650 !!!!!!!!! A dealer tech told me this. He also said that they were very slow.
