650 sickness is spreading
#1
I was the first one in my riding group to buy a 650. Being from MN, Polaris is always the top dog to beat. It is tough with die hard Polaris buddies. I let one friend try out my 650, and he already traded in his Sportsman for one. He is so amazed at the power. It is nice to see him happy with a machine for once. Then, he let one of his buddies try his out. The next day that guy traded in his AC 500i on a 650. I have a few real Polaris freaks that ride with me. Last weekend when they saw mine and my buddie's 650 perform, they were really impressed. After every ride, they would come up and look at our machines and ask questions about them. I've never had such a solid machine that also performs like a sport quad on the trails. Time is the test for me, and I will see how it lasts.
Since this weekend, I have a small sqeak from my belt only in neutral when it is warming up. It goes away as soon as I hit the gas or put it in gear. Should I have any worries here? It isn't a constant noise and I can barely hear it, but it's there.

I heard that squeak on a 400. I do not think it, by itself is anything. But, if your belt is loose, it will wear faster.
Yup, I have my 650 working on converting some people too. But, it's easier to make a polaris owner switch over than a honda owner. At least it is for the ones I know. Those guys won't even test drive your quad. They don't think power is fun. They don't care about handling.

I guess I was a honda fan, having owned CR250 and a Shadow. I sure wasn't lookin at a kawasaki.
I have had strong dislikes for yamaha, just because of some crappy street bikes they made, but crappy street bikes doesn't really have anything to do with quads. I was kinda lookin at the 660, even with my bad experiences with yamaha street bikes. I was not looking at the Rubicon, because of the lack of power, ride, no diff lock, and not as good handling.
The dealer told me not to make up my mind on the 660 until I test drove the 650. The 650 spanked the 660 in the test drive. Wow!

Check out the new ATV Action. Has another shootout on the big bore 4x4's. Crowned the Prairie the winner. Also, all the talk about the Polaris being ATV of the year, not according to this mag. Check it out, pretty good article. The did, however, rate the Polaris over the Grizzly. Hmph!? That did surprise me.
