650 high range wheelies are back.

Is this hose replacement the only mod that you are doing? Just replacing that hose, not drilling holes and installing uni-vents in the top of the air box and things like that? If just installing a new intake hose onto the air box is all it takes to get more power than I definitely want to do it. I think I know what you guys are talking about, but I would like to be sure before I tear into my 650. Are you just replacing the air intake hose that runs from the front, (near the radiator cap) to the opening in the air box? I would just like to make sure. I haven?t been able to find the post mentioned that nyroc put up showing pictures or even talking about this mod. Does anyone know what the topic of the post was?
Thanks

Area 51,
I have a good pick of the stock snorkle: http://atv.dnsalias.com/atv/prairie6...ir=&pic=18
(or click the next button)
and a pick of my modified one: http://atv.dnsalias.com/atv/prairie6...ir=&pic=19
My airbox has a disadvantage, in that it is really hacked it up, and it has no drain now (I can put that in still). I recommend following fishhead's advice, if you can find a willing parts counter guy.
My snorkle has a slight advantage, in that the fitting I used is 2-1/2", and I get all the edges radiused, so I may get a little better flow around the corner. I really think what I did here is messy, so I suggest you go with the idea from fishhead or Prairiedust, just to make it a lot easier.
It was worth while, since I got more power from it than from the air filter.

Area51,
I do have a jet kit and filter with the snorkel replacement. I do not have any holes drilled. If you do get interested in the jet kit and filter, look into getting from rockymountain atv($99). I got mine through hmf($150) and it was 51 more dollars! just a tip.
Nyroc,
Have you tried the mod on your stock pipe yet?

MonteSS, www.rockymountainatv.com has the jet kit w/o the filter, $49. It says K&N jet kit, but it is made by Dynojet, I think.
Fishhead, I got mine at hmf too, cuz rockymountain was out of stock, and I got nailed for the extra money too. Yes, I am going to cut off the end of my stock pipe, open things up a little bit, and put just a little bigger opening in the end, and weld it back together.

Thanks for the info NYROCK you've been a big help now and in the past with your post and pics. Thanks for the info you are vital asset to this forum. I looked at the rocky mtn site and they show a drill bit in there kit. Did you have to drill the carbs with the Dyno jet kit??? They didn't list drilling any thing on the Dyno web site.

Hey Fishhead and Nyroc, thanks for the info. I like your idea of the radiator hose Fishead. I wonder if I would see any improvement with out the jet kit. I have a brand new Twin Air, air filter, but like I said, no jet kit. I wonder if it would make my 650 run to lean if I put the radiator hose on it in place of the stock snorkel? What makes the stock snorkel so restrictive? Is it smaller in diameter than 2.25 inches? I assume that the end of the stock snorkel is 2.25 inches where it connects to the air box, but does it get smaller between the air box and the other end? I was just curious as to why the 2.25-inch diameter radiator hose was better than the stock snorkel and what makes the stock snorkel so restrictive? Does anyone else out there have this mod on it with out the jet kit or a pipe? How about you PrairieDust?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The air intake that Diamondgracing.com is making is a direct fit and really wakes up the torque. It actually fits higher than the old one and is a little more protcted from water. The intake has a built in velocity stack and appears to be inexpensive for what you get
