650 high range wheelies are back.

Fishhead, I store everything that I consider good to know on my 650 website, and I spit it back out to the forums whenever the subject arises.
I have recorded the part number of that radiator hose you found.
Nice find.
Guess what I'm gonna document on my website next?
I saw grizzly owners modifying their stock exhaust and getting very good results with very little sound increase. And they spent very FEW dollars. They just increased the dia of the exit tube, and made a few more holes through the aprropriate baffles. I heard of one 650 owner doing this, except he removed everything and his muffler is now hollow. I am just gonna try to drill some holes.
I know I can't run a weld bead as clean as the weld on the stock exhaust. But I can do it well enough to hide the fact that it was ever done. a little mud and dust on it and nobody could ever tell.
Whatcha think?

Nyroc,
I have also been following that idea of the modified stock exhasut. I want the performance but not the noise, the whitetail hate it! When are you going to atempt? I have to find me a wire fed machine before I can do this. Need to post the sound on your site.... Have you priced the extra lid for your air box? I had seen where you were talking about buying an extra one to drill the holes in....considering also.
Cool,
Did you see a change in the enlarged snorkel even with holes drilled?

I did not modify my lid, I felt a big increase in power just with the snorkle mod. I mentioned that as an option for people. Someone else did it and got a second lid for around $11. That is why I suggested hacking up the lid.
I feel bad that I hacked up my airbox. No problems, just wish I had not.
I already reamed out the muffler. It is a bit louder. If I take a sound clip of it, it won't give you any idea as to the overall volume. It was loud in the garage, but really did not seem very loud outside.
I have not ridden it much, just down the street with a quick wheelie. I could not tell the difference from that short ride.
The kids on the street were all yelling "Wow, he did a wheelie!" for a long time after.
As it turns out, the exhaust tip is responsible for removing the poping sound that the 660 makes. the holes increased sound some too, since I started it at every step of the process. Here is a pic:

Hey guys, just wanted to know if I need to re-jet if I put this hose on mine? I have a Twin Air filter, but stock jetting, and stock pipe. If I don't re-jet, will it make my engine run to lean? And if not, will I see any power gain with just installing the hose, and not re-jetting? I would like to here from anyone that has installed the hose on their stock engine with out jetting or a pipe.
Thanks
Thanks
