deffinately not a guru but know how to answer this one.
Believe it or not most will tell you no, but the answer is yes.
I'll tell you why. Most think they have thier jetting rite on. But most are wrong. When poeple talk about the cream and coffee type color on the plug poeple take it as when they see the brown stuff on the rim and that, and they are there. But realy you need a clean rim and the color is realy on the electrode.
Now the color will be on the electrode, but ride your quad for a week and you'll see that the sooty color will come back to the rim and electrode. You see curtis sparks and mickey dunlap telling poeple that todays pump fuels are hard to tell. This is why, it realy takes several hours of riding to tell if you are on or not by checking the plug.
I used this today with a friend, wish I thought of it months ago it's a good example. If you own a late model car, go pull a plug on it. You will notice absolutely no soot. Just a brownish or grey ring around the electrode, this is how your plug looks when your rite on.
So in short jetting is a problem you take care of over weeks or months of riding and not in a afternoon. Yes every time you change it gets a bit better, but if you stop shy of this, it is still much better than stock.
Most poeple will also tell you thier machines also run better in the cold, another indicater that they are rich.
Your quad will tell you when a good snort of the cold air doesn't agree with it. In 99.9% of the cases just pop one size larger main in and have a nice winter
