I was reading a post from Feburary on it. I've always been curious as to what's it is exactly. I see written that it uses a KX250 motor. Well, the Tecate 4 uses (used...weep!)a KX250 motor...basically. It was based on the 87 KX250 to be exact. Is Yokley using a modified Tecate 4 motor or a recent actual KX motor like 1999 or 2000 model year? what about the rest? I know he has a roll design chassis and I guess Axis shocks because they're one of his sponsors. anyone know the nitty-gritty nuts and bolts make up of his quad or how to find out?
Guess in the end it's not really a tecate 4 or is it?

I have a Tecate 4 and am curious about its trickery so maybe I can apply some of it to my KXF.

PS: why is Kawi so into this quad? (which is basically like a 2002 KXF250 Tecate 4) God! seeing that model year after the words "KXF Tecate 4" makes me gitty! 87-88 just wasn't long enough. They were on to something awesome in 89 and, out of nowhere, they killed it. they had a hot 89 prototype in the works (which the Roll brothers were race testing for Kawi). I still have the magazine from late '88.

He actually only raced it in 2 or 3 races this year and apparently Kawasaki finally pulled the plug on it. He now is supposed to be riding a honda powered quad. His results have since went down also.

well i don't wanna burst your buble meanie, but the yokley machine doesn't share one piece of anything with the tecate 4.the chassis is one hundred percent roll design.honda wheel hubs fr/rr.honda 400ex spindles.honda concentric chain adjuster /axlecarrier.the motor is a brand new production 2002 kx 250 motor tuned to the max, balanced to the inth degree, for less vibration.the thing is a rocket.the internals have all been highly beefed up to handle the additional load of the two wheels and the wieght of the quad.in fact it uses 87 tecate 3 rear fenders and cut mojave front fenders.
is there anything else you would like to know about it?
my tecate is about the trickest one you will find to get any ideas off of.and it looks like this 500 conversion is going to come together rather nicely.i have the rubber mounts all figured out.it's gonna look like it came from the factory with this motor in it.it's my prototype tecate KXF500A.
and more good news, kawasaki will be bringing to us the new 2003 kxf400tecate4 this upcoming year.same as the z400 suzuki but with green plastic and a couple other small details just to set it apart.it has been confirmed from my sources deep within the factory connections.

Thanks for putting it so bluntly, killer. But that's just what I wanted to know. I was just curious because they call it a "KXF". that's all. And your sources confirm that this new "kwadsport 400" will be a "KXF" model like the 250 was? That's interesting. I thought they would have given it a different model code but what do I know. So it will be using the suzuki z400 motor. That kinda sucks. I thought they would have been original and used a KX 4 stroke motocross motor that must have in the works somewhere. It's not like they've been producing anything new and exciting in the last oh, 10-14 YEARS! When's this thing coming out?

Not to burst anyone elses bubble.....but Yokley actually had a Honda 250R motor in his Kawasaki the first few rounds until he switched to honda plastics.

Check this out if you don't believe me....
