I have a 2 wheel drive sport 400L. When I raced a prarie while the sport was stock he'd jump in front and hold his lead for the distance.Now I 've got a few mods and the prarie still gets me out of the hole( The sport wheelies and spins alot now)but i am able to run him down and pull away.I had to take the sport to mechanic to tune it because was not able to tune the sport just right( I had a mid range bog). But 63.00$ and a day later it was screaming with all it's glory.I love to see how fast a performance tuned prarie would run.it would kick a$$!!

HI Guy's;
I have a KVF650( the Canadian name on the Prairie650 ) I Love this thing...if you buy it you will feel the same. It is an amazing quad! It has something everyone,...mudding,pulling,
climbing,plowing,hunting,working etc and it's great in sand ,snow,mud, bog,woods you name it. Now, put all this quad can do,(and do very well)..and put a ferocious engine inside it, make it ride and handle well...and you get a BEAST plain and simple!!! This is a quad riders dream machine. It does everything and has lightning speed!!! This machine is seriously fast. Yes it will take a scrambler... I have heard it will take all the scrambler models. I have'nt raced one yet but I have raced a few machines though. It seams everywhere i go people want to race me ( but hey i enjoy it) This machine will keep with the race quads! I raced a new Suzuki Z400 and had varying results...he won as expected but not by much (4 lengths) one time we actually went neck and neck with me in front by a wheel(He had bad traction or missed a gear) Raced a banshee & raptor with similar results (4 lengths) These are the among the fasted quads made, and they are not all that much faster. The Kawi650 will beat a stock hon400ex( even a pipped one). Pipe and jet a Kawi650 and you have got a very fast quad. If you are looking for a 4x4 with speed this is it. Don't know if it will handle like a scrambler or not, I don't think the scrambler is much lighter. The p650 is faster than a POL700 ( though i did lose to a 75 pound kid on one, While i was in 2wd and spun the tires like crazy) And it is faster than a Grizz660. They all have about the same top end...just the Kawi650 gets there quicker. You won't regret buying one believe me!!! Everywhere you ride this thing, you gather attention from other bike riders...cause they know what this thing is!!!

You have given me quite a lot to think about, KawiRob. Sounds like you've raced quite a few different quads and had a lot of fun. They just can't help but want to race that p650. The 03's are just around the corner. I was wondering if there will be any updates on next years Prairie650, being as the 02 is the first model year for the p650. Did you, by chance, happen to race any other 650's--like the DS650, which is a quad I have considered...

Scrambler excitement;
I never got race a DS650...i only saw one in a dealership. It was beautifull and apparently crazy fast ( very similar to a banshee and raptor ) I sat on it and it was really nice...more comfort than either the raptor or banshee( I am 6' and weigh 210lbs ) You are limited to where you can ride the true sport quads, as they don't have great clearance under the rear diff. A sport-ute type quad is the best all around ride in my opinion.
PS: I also had a kid on a POL 500HO challenge me and i walked away from him and i outweighed him by 80lbs.

Well, I do not have a 400 Scram. But I do have a 500 4X4 scrambler and have raced it against my 650. I realize that the 500 and 400 are not the same but I have read many times about the comparisons stock to stock. Pretty much even but the same ol' story you can hop up a 400 cheaper. The Prairie is faster out of the hole and continues to walk away from the Scrambler. The further you race the more of a lead the Prairie is going to have on the Scrambler. Then I put my bigger tires on the 650 and now it is a very close race from the starting line to the finish with the Prairie still in a slight lead. When you get into tight trails and sand banks the Prairie will no longer keep up with the Scrambler. Just my 2 Cents.
