New intake for 650 Available.

I just ordered the air intake from tp://www.diamondgracing.extremegarage.com/ it should be here in a few days its about 50 bucks and if it opens up the intake and flows better it will be well worth it. I'll keep posted when it comes in. Get yours ordered before they are gone I don't know how many he had made.

A higher flowing air filter would help, if the air can't pass through the filter fast enough the intake would do little good. When I changed my air filter it bogged when you first went to accelerate. I rejetted the carbs and now I lost top end but the take off is better ( still can't wheelie its probably me and the timing). So I am hoping that changing the intake kind of like Nyroc did it will balance out. What I don't understand is that every one is saying we are running to rich. But the fatory jets are are 138 and 142 so how is running our jets at 128 and 132 be richer. That should be leaner. Right?? In cars when you loose top speed you need to increase jet sizes. Any input??? or thoughts??

you really can't compare the jet sizes, most stock jet sizes are rated by flow (at least the mikuni's are) the dynojet are by diameter, a 120 is 1.2 mm, so unless you check out the following sites, you really can't see the diffrences. I'm going to post some sites I found, & take a look at those.

oops, forgot a link..
this one is for cv carbs that are keihin's used on harleys,
still the theory will work well, just pick & choose the right parts/information that fit your application
if you open up the airbox by a snorkle, filter, holes in the box, you are allowing more air to be sucked in the carbs..so stock jetting will be lean..I think that the dynojet notes are for a STOCK setup, no modifications to snorkle, airbox, filter, etc..and are a guideline..so kind of take it from there..
basicially the engine is a big air pump, & needs to be in balance between the amount of air it sucks in, the amount of fuel it mixes, & the amount of restriction or backpressure the exhaust provides..when you get them right, it will make you smile..all the mods I did to my street bikes were with stock jets, shims, airbox mods, K&N filter, & exhaust mods on stock pipes, I put a CDi box in the big bike..I've been happy with the outcome..

use judgement but it all comes down to the seat of the pants, ride & feel, & plug checks to know when you have it right.
when I do mine, I'll post & let you know the outcome, it will probabally be based on stock jets, that a average rider can come up with for modifications & cost around 30 bux or so, filter (twin air, jets, & airbox mods, as far as parts) a freeer flowing snorkle will affect jetting though..
I'd use a combination of the information in the dynojet kit, & the links, & ESPECIALLY what works well for other riders on the same machine, at same elevation, same mods, etc..
a plug check is the BEST way to determine if you have it right, and every time you adjust the carbs, or change a jet in them, you need to resynchronize them, so they pull the same amount of vacum in the intake ports..BEFORE you change anything else..(I know this as far as a v twin & v 4 Bike...I don't suspect the quad will be any diffrent)
But I AM interested in the Diamond G Snorkle, & other goodies..(patiently waiting on oldman wheeler's article, & Bearman's CDI Box, Mike P's Pipe, to hear the reviews..)
