EPI Black Spring for 650

I love the DirtDevils! I have 27x12x12 on the rear with about 4 lbs of air...makes them lay flatter on the ground and really get traction!) I have 26x10x12 on the front with about 5lbs of air...makes them rounder and taller. This gives me good traction in rear and good steering in front. BUT, let me warn you! They are VERY heavy and will rob power. If I was going to do it again, I would probably set up like nyroc's combo. I guess I will just have to ride hard and wear these out!!!

Encore, I haven't got my springs yet but I hope they come in this week. I made a tool to take apart my driven clutch and from what I can see in the manual, I think a guy can get his drive clutch apart without taking it off. If you take off the bolt that holds your drive pulley on, then take off the eight bolts holding the drive pulley cover on, the spring is right there. Don't take this as gospel as I haven't tried it yet, but it looks possible. As soon as I get my springs, I'm gonna try it.

Masterblaster is right about installing the Red spring on the drive clutch. I did try the red spring this past weekend and I did the change out with the clutch mounted on the machine by removing the center bolt that holds the clutch on the crank and then removing the 8 smaller bolts that holds the clutch cover plate, very easy to do. I found that with the red spring, at least for myself, that the clutch engagement speed is hard if you are not carefull when taking off. I will be changing back to the original spring this week sometime, I will keep the black spring on the driven clutch. There is one more thing that I found out with all of this is that you must have the belt deflection set at it's lowest setting ( 0.87" ) for the best clutch action no matter what spring you use....MJSTX

One more thing about these springs is that you will loose some top speed and some acceleration but you will have less belt slippage and more torque to the wheels. This is my experience with this, you may disagree.....MJSTX
