Well here ya go Dirt Week is over in Southern WV and here is some interesting facts. Note these are from my viewpoint as most of the Roadeo and Drags was from me judging as an official an not at all an official comparison. The runs were done by their owners and not professional riders and to me this is more interesting as they seem to be what is more accurate.

Race Lane 100 Yards and Grass surface (Grassy Field)
Drag Races 4x4
Prairie 650 outran Grizzly which outran 700 Sportman which outran Bomb
Makes me wonder about those magazine comparisons because we ran a 1/2 mile run on paved surface (unofficial of course) and the Prairie 650 and Grizz outran the Bomb that was supposed to smoke everything on long runs? And why does the 700 hit the rev limiter?

Drag Races 2x4 vs 4x4 Class (based on times from card)
DS 650 Baja Bomb time 5:17 (2x4 Class Winner)
Yamaha Banshee 5:24
KVF 650 Kaw time 5:29
Grizz 660 5:96
700 SP 6:92

Some observations from ATV Rodeo
Prairie nosing in cone obstacle but we know why, Grizzly almost rolls in same obstacle not as stable in hard cornering, and Polaris 700 smooth however loose rear traction out of corner, on uneven downhill surface I must admit the 700 handled it pretty well but we upset them at the bottom and they all seemed to dive right, the Prairie lauched pretty evenly as did the Grizzly and Bomb. On the Rockers the Grizz was sort of king here and believe it or not the Prairie did not worry as they usually ckeaned out these in short fashion the 700 and Bombs seemed to not like being up and down so fast maybe a weight issue.

Mud Pit Observations
Deep Water About 4 feet deep
Kawasaki came through as did Grizz but 700's got some sort of exhaust issue as they bogged to point where you could see them loosing their power. Bomb don't even think about it in deep water as they lisp to left side for some reason could've been driver but unsure however. Even unclogged a couple that packed with mud.
Mud Pit claimed
2 650's however
2 660's
2 700's
3 400 Ex's
6 Honda Rubicons
2 Foremans - something up there as they seem better in mud than the Rubicon.
1 Yamaha Banshee
1 nice shiny new DR 400

OK finally on asking people about their Quads
SP 700 owners like their quads wish they could get better aftermarket performance kits however and some sort of issue with a nut backing off on the clutch can anyone clarify this for me I still do not understand this issue.
Bomb owners like thier quad but say they seem to fill up with mud and cause nightmares clearing the gook from the unit and want more low end.
Grizzly owners love em bar none as they say they have the best of both worlds but wish they would corner a little better in hard turns.
Prairie owners love the power but wish the belt and plush front suspension were a little better.
Hope this is fair and unbiased as I tried to be as I participated in all nine days and talked to hundreds of people about their quads trying to get the best information for you guys. I think the competition results will eventually be up on sportsintherough.com when they eventually get them back to their headquarters.
