Well I'm assuming you have a thumb throttle already right..? Have you ever rode a dirt bike or street bike...? I guess it's all personal preferance. I think ATV's have a thumb throttle instead of a twist throttle so incase you fall off and are hanging on by the bars it doesn't twist wide open. I also think a thumb throttle gives you more control than a twist. If your riding on real technicle trails you have more control with a thumb than twisting with your entire wrist. I'd stick with the thumb throttle personally, but if you lets say used to ride a dirt bike all the time you might be more comfortable with a twist so get that. JMO's

mojavekid13,
I have seen a video clip of a guy jumping on a banshee that had a twist throttle, he landed on the hump, and twisted the throttle WIDE open. It wasn't pretty. I to asked the same question, and when I saw that clip, I made up my mind to stay with the "thumb throttle".

Just my 2 cents for free.

I think ATV's just feel better with thumb throttles, and dirtbikes feel better with twist throttles. Like I wouldn't put a twist throttle on an ATV, and I wouldnt put a thumb throttle on a dirtbike.

i have been riding dirt bikes since i was like 8 so i was comfortable with the twist on a track i prefer the twist you have a major advantage in sharp right hand turns but on a realy rough slow trail with logs and other stuff i like the thumb a lil more control but like they said it is personal preference

A twist throttle does take some getting used to.Once your used to it you'll never go back to a thumb.

thumb throttles are for girls lol

I have known several guys who have "tried" a twist throttle on their atv's, but eventually switched back to a thumb throttle. They each had their own reasons for doing so.
