I have been trying to toon in this mojave for a long time now.Iam real new to the sport and am trying to learn as I go.Icould not get it to stop fowling plugs for months. My float was pushed down. I raised the float level with the flat part of float level. Now if you open bowl screw and hold hose level where carb meets bowl the gas comes out of hose slightly. Before no gas came out. That was a problem that took a while to figure out and I still have to adjust float so gas is 2mm belowcarb when unscrewing bowl. Now my problems are in jetting.Ilive at 750 ft.The dyno kit says to use a 132main or even a 134 being piped.I am down to a 122 and is starting easy and evwn running better than when i was fowling plugs. The difference now seems to be at top end.Used to be it hungered for a 6th gear. Now it doesnt want a 5th.The plug gets A black soot on it but it cant be rich can it.Needle is on 3rd clip. I didnt use any spacers.Another thing is the pilotin it is a 55 but that was in it before k+n filter or new jets.Ibought my first power kit last year and had a friend put it in so I dont even know what the stock main would be either.Ido know he didnt change the pilot.Maybe that is to high. Any info would be great. At least she is getting close FInally

Check out the "Carburator Clinic" in the Tech Tips section of this website. Greg Hall does an excellent job of walking you through the steps to rebuild an ATV carburator.

springdrl is rite, look at that article.

Your float hiegth is to high. Yhe over flow will make it look like the hieth is at the seam. But adj it so the fuel level is rite below the flange of the bowl. Look at the bowl and you will see what I mean.

But if you have crap under your needle it will just overflow no matter what.

I just went through this last week with a 2002 Mojave I bought used. It never ran like I thought it should so I installed a Dynojet kit and a Uni Clamp on. I first installed a 130 main and set the needle on 3rd notch like the instructions in the kit reccomended. With the 130 it would bog and cut off when I hit the gas. Per suggestions here I went down to a 126, there it ran fine and started fairly easy. The problem I had was there was absolutly no power in the mid or top end. I started checking things yesterday (more helpful ideas from this board} and found that the diaphram was leaking which was causing the slide not to open properly. My diaphram was not bad, just pinched on the edge a little, and apparently it has been like this since I got it. Now that that is fixed this thing runs awesome. I had never ridden a Mojave so I was starting to think they must be dogs.

I am at about the same altitude as you and running a stock pipe, if our carbs are the same you should probably be running a larger main than me with your pipe.

Thanks for all the advise. When i bought my first jet kit I had a friend install it.Turns out besides the float being messed up theplastic part above needle was installed wrong. He turned it upside downand put the needle inside of it.This was keeping the needle so much higher causing to much fuel to enter and fowling plugs.Iwent down to a dealer for smaller pilot jets and he gave me a print out of all the parts to my carb with a diagram showing were everything went and thats how i discovered the problem. 134 main needle on 3rd clip perfect. thanks again for advise.
