TIRES!?!?
#1
I have an 00' mojove, with a few basic mods. I am going to buy all new wheels and tires soon. I have narrowed it down to either wholeshots....or Razors. I am goin to start racing more. But still plan on doing some trail riding with friends. Now to my question. I want to go with 18x11x8's... but my big issue on this is ground clearance, not a problem at the track, but will i have enough for ruts, rocks, stumps, etc. on trails. Either way I am going to buy an aftermarket swingarm skid b/c the stock one hangs down too far. My other option is 20x11x8 or 20x11x9. And if you guys do recomend the 18's witch size whould i go on up front....i thought about stickin to the 21's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!!!!

First of all, you can not put 8 or 9 inch rims on the Mojave unless you change the hubs. Dura blue makes the hubs but they are kinda pricey. You need to add in that cost if you want 8s or 9s. 18 inch give up too much clearance for rough trail riding. 20s are the best if you plan on doing both racing and trails.

I wanted to race a few Hare Scrambles, so I recently purchased the Holeshot XCT's which consist of 22" on the rear and 23" up front. I didn't want to lose any ground clearance. The Dunlop website has the stock Mojave tires at almost 22" (actual) maybe a hair under, and the 20" Holeshots are 19.75" (actual). If I remenber right I would lose 1.0625" in ground clearance by going with the 20".
